They all quit tackling, that's for sure. Until Babin was cut they didn't take Andy seriously at all. Juan was a joke, and they didn't believe in Mudd or Washburn.

yeah Juan was a joke with that #12 defense.  Good thing we replaced him with Bowles who coached the worst defense in NFL history

Personally, I don't see a team that has quit. I see a team that has been psychologically beaten down and can't shake out of it. The effort level is fine; the problem is that everybody is paddling hard in different directions and the boat isn't going anywhere but down.

I'll tell you who quit at one time or another this season. DRC, Nnamdi, Maclin, Matthews, Dunlap. Rolle quit but they ran him.

I don't know that anyone "quit", they played hard in every game... for the most part. They just suffered too many key injuries and gave away too many turnovers without taking any away themselves.

Add to that the turmoil that started in training camp with Andy's son, continued to firing Juan, releasing Babin and then cutting the coaching cancer out... it was just all way too much to overcome.

It all actually traces back to Jason Peters double injury over the summer. 2012 was just destined to be a horrible year.

You my friend are dead on. And that is the shame of all this mess. NOBODY appeared to quit.
They might have played horrible. But I seen no quit in a single player.
And actually, if anything there may have been some players trying so hard that it made it worse.

Nnamdi and DRC quit, and John Lynch, a 4 time All Pro db, 9 time Pro Bowler, and world champion called them out for it on national TV. Of course you probably had the sound down..

Demetress Bell definitely quit,I seen plays where he literally just stood there and didn't even attempt to block.

I think  you have to look at units under the coordinators rather than individual players. Obviously, some players pay harder than others but units as a whole played poorly like the DBs especially the CBs, the saties were just bad players. The DL was soft especially the DEs when Washburn was there and special teams was bad all year. I think the Offensive units played up to their talent level except for the starting WRs.

The Secondary was soooooooooo bad it probably appeared that they quit every single game.

And the Special Teams. Disgusting, they were.

Thanks for all the input. I do think Maclin has quit at times. i think he has been playing in self preservation mode for this entire losing streak. yeah his stats are DECENT but the guy is soft. Period. Coleman I have seen quit a couple of times but i have always liked the guys heart for the most part. i think he is mentally beat down honestly. Bell(bust), Mathews(bust), Allen(bust), and DRC and Nhamdi? A gosh damn shame and proven lack of effort. More so on the former. Watkins, Dunlap, Cole, Maclin, and all the previously mentioned starters will not be here next year. I would really be surprised if any of them remain with a new coach coming in.

I have coached and played for almost 17 yrs combined and anyone else who has will say the same thing as me i am sure and that is that I would always have a lesser player out on the field that gives 110% EVERY play than one that takes plays off every now and then and does not finish or doesn't know how to tackle. And Tackling? Don't even make me go there! If you can't tackle by the time you reach the NFL level you've got some Fing issues and i don't want em on my team...

True that.  Well, the negative ones that cry on here but we won't actually get a count because most of the rest of us avoid the message boards nowadays.

But to the question, I don't think anyone gave up.  I do however think Babin played horrible this season because of his selffishness and Washburn caused locker room problems by the way he treated some of his players...I wouldn't be suprised if he said racist things, I still remember his first interview talking about Cox, I wanted to mute the guy before he could get into trouble.

I've seen Maclin catch the ball and just fall down when defenders are coming at him so he doesn't get hit. I've seen our defense let a receiver by him without touching. Just saying...
