i dont think this has been posted already. If it has, sorry I missed it. There has been much talk about the need for a "football guy" in the FO. I happen to think this was a major issue at the tail end of the Reid era. It is just not a good idea to give that much power to one person when it comes to talent evaluation. And let's face it; Howie has no business outside of cap management . So we need a " football guy". Here is my idea; It is well known that Jeff Lurie is tight with Bob Kraft. It also seems that a former New England FO guy will soon be fired. That's right folks, I say we bring in Scott Pioli to run our draft and personel. I know he didn't exactly light it up in KC, but this guy has proved he can get it done. His drafts were actually good in KC. He couldn't predict injuries to his roster.
Theory on possible FO change

I agree that an accountant should not be evaluating talent but I think a part of the Eagles success in cap management and their poor draft choices go hand in hand. They look for bargains as opposed to talent hoping those bargains will do well in the NFL but not so well that they have to pay elite status contracts. And then after 3-5 years of disgruntled fans they wind up going after that big name FA just to shut us all up.

I like the picks the chiefs have made over the years. they probably hit in the draft just as much as anyone. they have a lot of good young players, just can't seem to put it all together on the field. but that's not pioli's fault. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him here but it'll probably cost lurie a lot and I doubt he'd dump roseman.

Immediate no to any GM who sends a second round pick for Matt Fing Cassel.

I get your point RedZone. But look at his drafts. Cassel was really his only mistake. I know Cassel was a big mistake but we need serious drafting help. Pioli has proved he can do that. As for Howie, I say keep him. Pioli runs the draft and talent evaluation, Howie gets the deal done in a nice cap friendly way.

Btw, do understand that Cassel was a trade not a draft pick.

I would not be 100% opposed to that combination, as while I dislike Howie in personnel I love his ability to work a penny like Joe Banner.
Also, yes it was a trade...but effectively and accurately executing all phases of personnel are important, and if you blow a second rounder (which turned into S Patrick Chung) in a trade, it negatively affects your team just as equally as a busted draft pick.
