Last I checked, I don't see anyone clamoring for Juan Castillo's services. He's going to sit and wait until Andy gives him a job. I'm not opposed to giving him another shot at OLC, but I'm certainly not going to say he may be the best option out there.

Yeah, he's so good he had to drive thousands of miles, uphill both ways, in a deadly snowstorm to beg Andy Reid for a job. I believe that's how the story Reid tried to sell us went.

The interior OL has always been a patchwork of UDFAs and late round picks: Bubba Miller, Hank Fraley, Jamaal Jackson, Artis Hicks, Nick Cole, Todd Herremanns, John Welbourn, etc. The highest of those was a 4th round pick (Welbourn) and he was drafted in 1999. Not exactly stacking the interior OL spots.

Probably because the offensive line is the most important unit for getting good offensive production.

The situation he was in here in Philly was a HC's wet dream and he couldn't do squat with it. If he couldn't get it done here, he aint gonna get it done anywhere.

Why then, when Castillo went to the defense did Andy completely abandon the O-line and we went on a defensive spending spree?

Shawn Andrews, first round. Jon Runyan, the top offensive tackle available. Jason Peters, the top offensive tackle available.
Then all of a sudden when Castillo goes to the defense, well, it's been said before somewhere.

Didn't we draft an O-lineman in the first round and sign a fairly high-priced OT to replace Peters? I mean, the moves f***ing sucked, but the effort was there.
And you have what....1.5 seasons of information on this? It's not like we have a long history of information to make that assessment. Castillo got moved to DC last season and was replaced less than midway through this year. You're pretty much comparing a decade of free agents and drafts with Juan as O-line coach to a year of FAs and drafts with Juan as DC.
See where my logic is going?

You mean besides being the first person it was reported that Jon Gruden approached to potentially be on his staff?

I guess you have a reading comprehension problem. I pointed out the INTERIOR OL was a patchwork of UDFAs and later round draft picks, not a long list of top offensive talent. On the other hand, Howard Mudd got a 26 year old OG with the first pick!
Andrews was drafted to be an OT when Runyan retired, and others are all OTs. I was referring to OG and C, hence the term "Interior".

If you want to say Danny Watkins was effort. Sure.
