Alright - I like the fact that the team went 14 years with the same coach. And we did so with an organization that had winning years for the most part and lotsa playoff games sprinkled in. Very Steeler-like.
I'd like the Eagles' next head coach to be with the team as long under these circumstances. However, in order to do so, the team needs to hire somebody younger. Someone like one of the OC's in Denver or Seattle. Both young late 30's, early 40's.
The team's most successful head coaching hires in the post-merger era have been Andy Reid and D Vermeil. Both of these guys were young when they were hired. Let's face it folks, head coach in the NFL is a grueling job. After a while, it gets to you. Vermeil's burn out said it all. And Reid's better years with the team were his earlier years.
If we can hope for or expect a long run from the next head coach, the guy should be relatively young.

time and time again it has been noted that the thing that sets great coaches from everyone else is attention to details. if the guy possesses that along with some other key attributes, i dont care if he is young or seasoned. if we do go with a young guy, he better be sure to hire some experienced coordinators so he can lean on them. young coaches that try to do everything tend to struggle early on. See Pat Shurmur, Jason Garrett.

I'm on the MIke McCoy bandwagon. That man has done so much with so little, and then even more when he got Peyton. He puts his players in a position to win and adapts to their style of play.
From Delhomme to Tebow to Manning. He gets the most out of his QBs and finds ways to put points on the board.
