You cant just wish and hope that the young players who failed to lead this year will somehow succeed in leading next year under a new coaching staf.
Hell, they might not be so inclined to lead when they realize they arent the shoe-ins that they were under AR.

In fact, the three QBs he couldn't make into players were Jeff George (head) and Bobby Hoying and Chris Simms (strong armed, immobile QBs who lacked accuracy and quick decision making skills).
I think this is the situation Gruden's been looking for, his last job, no handicap like all the draft picks he gave up to escape from Al Davis, no crazy owners, a solid talent base and lot's of FA money to work with, and a GM who knows how to work with a coach instead of starting a war. If Lurie is keeping Howie, he knows who was responsible for the madness of the last three years.

youre not just going to wipe the problems away in one offseason....there is a vacuum of leadership in the locker room right now.

I am a fisher of men.
We should stop thinking the worst. That is TATE's job.

He has to have a couple of really bad drafts.
Andy had a few bad drafts before that power was taken away.

Howie ran the 2012 draft, which was the best draft since ???
He got Cox without mortgaging the draft, picked up Kendricks and Curry while trading down to get back a 4th to take Boykin, picked up Foles in the 3rd for great value, and found Kelly in the 5th and Bryce Brown in the 7th. Picked up Ryans for a late 3rd but no dead money (who outplayed Tulloch by a sizeable margin). Also found UDFAs Polk and D Johnson, and Menkin off the waiver wire.
You really can't do it much better than that, he didn't panic, didn't over pay, didn't reach.

Id be pretty happy with Gruden as HC and Lovie Smith as DC.
Lovie runs the 4-3, has a simple and effective scheme, and actually understand the role and value of the LB position
-the odd thing about that would be that Lovie was the LB coach in Tampa Bay from 1996-2000, where he basically set up the "Tampa 2"....he left to be the Rams DC in 2001
-not long after, in comes Jon Gruden, using Lovies players and defense to win the SB in Tampa
