yeah, makes you wonder what planet the bidwills have been on for the past 8 years...then again, they were the only ones besides fat andy that thought that kevin klob was a NFL QB.

Quote

CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora expects ex-Eagles coach Andy Reid to end up as the next head coach of the Cardinals.
KTVK-TV in Phoenix is reporting the Cardinals are "very close" to hiring Reid, which has been confirmed by beat writer Mike Jurecki. Team president Michael Bidwill isn't willing to give up on inconsistent oft-injured QB Kevin Kolb, who tutored under Reid in Philadelphia. A Reid hire could end up costing the Cardinals DC Ray Horton. It's fair to wonder if Reid would reunite with ex-Browns GM Tom Heckert, leading to the exit of VP of player personnel Steve Keim as well. LaCanfora confirms that Horton is interviewing with Cardinals ownership on Tuesday before interviews with Buffalo and Cleveland. Jan 1 - 3:23 PM

Arizona hasn't permitted Horton to interview, so I think they want to keep him there and let Andy focus on the offensive side of the ball.

Kolb doesn't seem built or wired to handle NFL hits. The guy is always getting nicked up. Their OL is bad, but Kolb doesn't seem to be able to take punishment very well.

what a shock, a shotgun QB can't adjust to dropping back...he'll ensure reid's fade into obscurity.

Andy will have to revamp that OL and get a feature RB. Beanie Wells never panned out and he is on his way out.  The Cards' WRs seem good, but Floyd hasn't lived up to expectations yet.  The defense is in good shape.

Well that will be a good fit for Reid and I think he'll do well there,  he'll have a true DC not the crap Defensive coodinators he gave us over the last three years.

Arizona can't prevent Horton from taking a HC job elsewhere. He's under contract so they could prevent him from taking a DC job with another team. Go Reid! It was well past time for him to leave the Eagles and he was not without his warts, but I firmly believe he's a good coach and more importantly a good guy(cue RuntheRock's retort). You had to know that after Jeff Fisher was the hot candidate last year(compare his record to Reid's) that Big Red wouldn't have any problem landing a job.

They can't prevent Horton from taking a HC job, however they can stall by not giving him permission to interview hoping that some positions fill quickly.  I heard a report that teams have faxed permission slips to Arizona regarding Horton and Arizona hasn't responded yet.

Here's hoping he takes Vick with him.  Andy, Mike and Kevin can have a reunion.  Also, he'll probably get rid of Fitz right away, since he doesn't concern himself with #1 WR's.

How? It would be great if they let Horton go because of Andy, then we could interview him right away instead of having to ask permission.

You are correct in that teams have to ask permission. But I'm pretty sure by the rules Arizona can't refuse to grant permission for promotions to HC. Maybe they can stall, but eventually the league office would step in.

The fact this is moving as fast as it is tells me the Cards planned to fire Wisenhunt all along once they knew Andy would be fired by the Eagles AND they also likely had the same thought I did, that USC, especially after the embarassment with the Sun Bowl (not just the game yesterday, but the week leading up to the game) as I do think USC's AD Pat Haden would have wanted to try and get Andy to move to college football.

"KTVK-TV in Phoenix is reporting the Cardinals are "very close" to hiring Reid, which has been confirmed by beat writer Mike Jurecki. "

IOW, a reporter is reporting this, and it is being confirmed by another reporter? And this is being used as a supportable fact?

Now I understand how politicians keep getting elected.

I wanted him to go to the AFC just to see how he would react in a totally different environment. He was not good against AFC teams in his Eagles career.

But I think Arizona is a perfect fit for him. Close to his home in South California, not a media crazy football town so less pressure, and he plays indoors so he can throw all he wants 8 games a year with his heart's desire. 9 games a year if you add the yearly St Louis game. Plus he has Fitzgerald and Kolb who sucks, but at least he knows the guy.
