You're equating La Canfora to scum? Not that I care one way or the other about La Canfora, but "scum" makes it sound like he stole your grandma's pension or something.

C'mon, HB, everything in a relative sense. None of this is so vital, but how many years have the La Canforas, Kings, et all been lecturing to us about how we should feel and what we should be grateful for while we watch this thing slowly fall apart? And now we're going to hang on their every word as fact? Go ahead, but all these guys have sources promoting their own agenda, and what's best for the Eagles clearly doesn't rank highly in it.

I read La Canfora's piece only after seeing it referenced here, and it comes off to me as a hatchet piece, almost like he's got his panties in a twist and has some kind of hard on for Roseman.   His comments about Reid completely expose him as far as I'm concerned.

The dumbest of all was I hear that load King, a Giant fan who worked as a Giants beat reporter during the Parcells years, made a comment that these college coaches might have been more likely to take the Packer, Giant, or Steeler job, but not this one.    Well, no s***t, Sherlock - stable, winning roster and a franchise QB in place as opposed to a rookie QB and a 4-12 mess?    Who in their right mind wouldn't?    But these guys want to make this all about Roseman's presence?

Sorry, I'll wait and see for myself how it plays out.

I really don't have an answer here. I think the Eagles had a plan and followed it and interviewed a bunch of candidates and expressed interest in a variety of coaches. I guess I don't understand why some see that as a negative. Rather than fall in love quickly, they did their homework and made an expansive sweep through the coaching ranks. Is there something wrong with doing it this way?

I guess the thought of hoping to get one of 3 college coaches who didn't take the job....and then move to plan B interviewing another 10 top candidates + Billick....doesn't seem like a plan at all...certainly not one that had direction or focus..
either way....I would certainly be happy if they hire Gus Bradley (along with a good OC)

You obviously have to spin any answer you give, but I agree.

There was no 'sure thing' guy in this field, so why not explore as many possibilities as possible?       I don't really get the infatuation with the college guys, and hope the Billick thing was nothing more than an information gathering session, but at the end of the day, just do your due diligence and make an intelligent hire.

The national media with egg on their face yet again.........go figure.

La Canfora is generally very well connected and trust-worthy. And when he writes a story confirming everything that I (and a lot of other people familiar with this franchise) was 95% sure about anyway, it's pretty convincing. I have no reason not to believe him.
still stand by La Canfora as well connected and trust-worthy?

Tommy Lawlor would disagree.  He pointed out in an article that La Confora's connections are more at the agent level, as opposed to someone like Jay Glazer who has coaching and F.O. connections.

Do you think a couple of months from now anybody is even going to remember that it took the Eagles around 4 days longer to hire Kelly than it did Reid?

And FWIW - you're right - Banner did hire somebody quickly.  Would you rather have Chud as your HC here?
