Lurie said one thing that I thought was very interesting.

He said when the team hit 4-8 he knew he was going to release Andy, does that mean since then he's been on the hunt for his next head coach?  Could that decision be coming much sooner than we thought?  We know how the FO does things, they do all their business in house, away from the media.  Just thought that little bit was interesting.

Considering they already had their list ready as soon as Monday and there were rumors that Roseman already talked to Kelly before the end of the season, I am sure they had Reid fired whether he won his last 4 games or not.

Although I don't know if they will hire someone within the next week. They have a lot of candidates that other teams have on their list to.

It means he started his due diligence around that time.  Since the regular season had not yet concluded, it would have prevented him from any formal contact with the candidates.

It also meant he started the process of having that tribute ball made - the one he gave to Andy after announcing he was fired.  :P

Well since they were never 4-8 this year, it's just another lie Lurie tells his paying customers.  Maybe he meant 4-9 or maybe he meant last year when they were 4-8 before his "Fools Gold" rant about the finish to 2011.

I don't believe the decision will come sooner but I think the Eagles were identifying potential candidates to interview. I believe they started doing their homework and trying to find out what they can about coaches so the team would be ahead of the game when they were allowed to start officially.

A Math error is a lie? Really? And exactly what would be his purpose in consciously fabricating that particular statement?

If he decided at that point, then why didn't he fire Andy then?

He said that he starting leaning (heavily) in the direction of firing him at that point but that he didn't make the final decision until Monday morning because he wanted to wait until all the games were played and every factor was taken into consideration.

That would be BS from him too though, he told Andy on Friday that he was fired. Friday is clearly before Monday morning.

He denied that as well - he said that he had heard all those rumors but that he told Andy on Monday morning at 9:30 am.

He did not say it in the PC.  In the PC, he said that his final decision had come Monday morning and that, contrary to the rumors, he had not fired Andy on Friday.

Andy also told Vai Sikahema on Sunday night that he hadn't been fired yet.  Who knows what the truth is but there has never been any confirmation that the Friday firing happened.

I'll go re-watch it, I specifically remember thinking "Well, that means Andy lied yesterday in his post game PC".

It's at 5:38 when he is specifically asked when he decided to fire Andy and when he told him.

he said last year 8-8 wasnt good enough, so when he saw the team get 8 losses he knew he would fire andy. where is he lying again cuz it would seem hes a man of his word on that one.

He knew he was going to fire Andy before the end of the season. Remember watching that one prime time game and they showed Lurie up in the owner's  box and he looked like he wanted to fire Andy right then. He kept Andy until the end of the year out of respect.

Oh, I think so, too and that is pretty much what he said (if you read between the lines.)  I actually think that was the right decision ... I am glad we are moving on but there was no point in firing Andy mid-season without anyone capable of taking his place.  Marty as interim HC would have been an even bigger nightmare.

It's around 7 minutes when he exposes Andy's lie, that's what I was thinking of. Andy said that he hadn't talked to Lurie about the future (in his post game PC) but Lurie said that he did speak with him about the future direction of the franchise on that Friday.

I really don't believe him when he says he made the decision that morning though. Just a feeling though.

I agree.

Lurie said that, on Friday, they discussed AR's vision for the future of the team and that Andy was excited for it, even though he knew he'd likely be fired.  On Sunday, Andy said he hadn't been fired, hadn't talked to Jeffrey about "any of that."  Referring to his future, not the future of the franchise.  It's all crafty wordsmanship.  Doesn't really catch Andy in a lie, per se, because he hadn't formally been fired at that time ... but they were all clearly dancing around the topic.  Obviously, Jeff knew it was coming, Andy knew it, we all knew it.

Once the team crashed after Castillo's firing, everyone in the world new Andy was gone after the season. Of course the coaching search was already on in their eyes.  Who would question that?  But until the actually interview candidates a lot can change.

I think Lurie is a class act, and to fire Reid after 12 games would be an "emotional" resopnse, not logical or respectful... And a replacement coach would do what with the last 4 games???

I am rooting for McCoy at this point, not sold on Kelly, and others... I like what I have heard about McCoy.......so far.

He also said he's created a list and they will talk to everyone before they hire someone. In all liklihood some current playoff coaches are on that list, so I'd expect a formal decision after teh Superbowl.

Not true.

The last win came against the Bucs.  Going into that game, we were 3-9.  Coming out, we were 4-9, then proceeded to lose the last three games, ending up at 4-12.  At no point we were ever 4-8 (because the 4th win came after we'd already lost 9.)

I believe that Lurie just misspoke.  I don't think it was his intent to decieve; I think he was just referring to when it became clear to him that we were going to fall short of last season.  But the poster who said we were never 4-8 was, indeed, correct.
