Interesting. I think it's more Browns vs. Eagles. Seems like a no brainer to me they go through head coaches every other year there plus who wants to live in Cleveland?

I just don't want this guy or anyone else who is unproven or a re-tread (Nolan) in the NFL.

Really? What agent is that?  Banner does not have a agent.  He is his own agent.

I have a nagging feeling we're gong to get out-hustled by Banner.

What other options do you have? LOL  Mike Homgren? LOL
You will either get a uproven coach or a retread coach.

your an idiot for that comment. No one wants a retread but with the sucess you see from college coaches at this level? why the hell not?? Pete Caroll and Harbaugh have been really good.

Umm that basically means you have eliminated everybody. All the viable candidates are either unproven commodities or retreads.

easy with the name-calling keyboard cowboy....there is talent on this roster and things can be fixed here quickly by someone who knows what they are doing at this level (Dungy, Gruden, Cowher).

P.S. your should be you're....idiot!

I was a bit surprised by this.. in as much as it seems reputably quoted, last year he teased Tampa
But when you stop and consider NFL you also have to consider the media markets
Any head coach that plays in Philly plays in NY, DC, and Dallas

And that folks is the big league!
That guarantees millions of viewers, name becoming a household name
Does he  have the big boy panties to do it?

We will see

Did you know 10 of the last 15 SB winning coaches were re-treads??  Shanahan x2 w/ Denver, Belichick x3 w/ NE, Coughlin x2 w/ NYG, Vermeil w/ STL, Gruden w/ TB and Dungy w/ Indy.

My definition of a re-tread is someone who simply has not got the job done as a head coach in the NFL.  Examples:  Mike Nolan, Josh McDaniels.

Dungy will never coach again and his teams were always soft. He needed Peyton manning to win in the playoffs and even then he had a tough time doing it. Gruden was good in Oakland and can be a good coach as long as he has no decision over personnel but it is widely reported he loves his job with ESPN and Monday Night Football. and Cowher? the guy took 14 years to win in Pittsburgh. His style is no different than Reid except he runs the ball while Reid passes. Cowher needed LeBeau to get over the top so its not as if his defense can be assumed good if he were to ever come here

Did you care to look at those coaches resume's before they joined the team they won their SB with? Belichick got fired from the BROWNS. How pathetic is that?

I wouldn't add Gruden to that list, he wasn't a "retread", he was traded by the Raiders to the Bucs.

Kelly is licking his chops thinking about shady and Bryce brown behind a healthy peters. Are you kidding me? He doesn't care who the qb is this year. He's gonna sign at least a 5 year deal. We've got way better pieces to work with, a better draft pick, and aren't a perennial loser..

I don't care who the next coach is, because I, nor anyone, knows how they'll do. But i hope they do well.

Chip Kelly is a boom or bust guy. I'm willing to take the risk. Even if he flops, the worst that can happen is we don't win the Superbowl. Pretty used to that by now..

Didn't nearly everyone from the original Browns team get fired when they moved to Baltimore?  Belichick could certainly be an exception to the rule, as is his QB being a star out of the 6th round of the draft.

All of those coaches he listed were considered re-treads when they won the SB with their respective teams.

Shanahan was the HC of the Raiders
Belichick was horrible in Cleveland
Coughlin coached in Jax
Vermiel here
Gruden in Oakland
Dungy in Tampa

I agree 100%. Nobody has any idea how good or bad Kelly would be. I think he has by far the most upside though, but that means nothing. Nobody knew Bellichick was gonna rival Lombardi status when he was with the Browns as they proceeded to fire him. I'm willing to stand behind any head coach we hire, and be looking forward to what can be.

I have a feeling it's about to get personal between Banner and Roseman...there may be a war over Kelly whether he's the right guy or not.
