A New Era About To Begin

Michael Vick
Yes I do believe he is still our best chance to win if we were gong to play a game next week. However Foles does have the higher ceiling (whether he reaches it or not) and with a new coach and staff I do believe it is probably the time to move on to someone young. When Reid got here he went out and got his guy right away. Whether the new HC likes Foles or not he will (within a year or two) will have to find "HIS GUY" and I just don't think its a 32 year old QB. Now since everybody wants to bash Vick I will give him one prop... Whether he played poorly or not... He was 1 of only 2 players on offense that I can honestly say gave his all and played with heart and didn't "quit" on his teammates in that final game. The other player is pretty obvious (Shady)... And the things he said about how he was pissed off at the lack of effort, I saw people again bash him in the comments on PFT and was stunned. Wouldn't you want him to say that? Yes Vick played poorly this year (whether you think its more on him, the playcalling, or the OL, it is what it is... His play was poor this year) but effort was def not the problem. I will still be a fan of his (my birds come first of course) and hope he does well wherever he goes. He gave us two of the most memorable games in 2010 that I will rewind year after year...
Howie Rosman
Look if what Lurie said was true and last years draft was the only draft where Howie really had the most input than regardless of our season that says something incredible. I remember we were all amazed by last years draft so much props to him. And look its not his fault the free agency splash in 2011 didnt work, he did his job in bringing in the studs and did a great job. Had me convinced. I thought we were going to be world beaters. Not the case. Scratch it up to learning the lesson that chemistry is everything... Overall I think Howie is a great GM, one of the best already and am glad he is still here!!!
New Coach
Was all for having another coach. I kind of got the feeling that in the early years Andy was ahead of the league a little bit. But it truly looks like the league caught up to him. This is a fastly changing league which is why I am not sure I want an old dog coach. I think someone experienced but yet new to the HC ranks will have some bright ideas and be more creative in their schemes. The league can always pass a coach by. And as much as I think John Gruden would be cool (not gonna happen anyway) I just think I want someone new, yet still experienced in todays NFL...
Our CBs
I have no idea what happened. Could Nnamdi really of lost that many steps in 1-2 years? We can't get rid of both of them can we? I think Nnamdi will either be traded (good luck) or cut and we will keep DRC. I just don't know enough about our other CBs just yet to be confident but I guess it couldn't be any worse could it?
OL
Our OL is not as bad as people think only for the simple fact that Jason Peters (maybe the best LT in the game) will be back along with the other OL starters. Probably just a RT away from being a well above average unit when healthy...
Foles
I'm not as sold on him as others are. He showed some good things and some bad. I guess that's a rookie for ya huh lol. I think he is def your starting QB next year since the draft isn't high on QBs this year unless we get someone out of FA or a trade but I don't see anybody of use being available...
Holes On This Team
Honestly its hard to say what was a lack of talent or a lack of scheme. But the holes I would say are CB, S, & RT. I would say QB because Foles is still an unknown to me but I'm picky. The DL I think will be fine. A ton of names and potential and we will see what the new DC can get done since I am sure we will actually have our first actual legit DC other than fill in guys. Whoever the new coach will want to bring with him...
I have no idea what to expect. But you guys got what you wanted. Reid is gone. Bye bye Marty, Bowles, etc... New coach will want his own guys I am sure...

I agree with the OP I think it will be a short rebuild. Alot of it depends on Foles and how he grows up in the next season or two.
The core that will remain here are good players, if the draft goes well, if we spent a little but smartly in free agency this will be a talented team..
That just leaves the new coaching staff and how quickly the players buy into the system.
I can see it going one of 3 ways.
Foles is legit, everything works out right away and the team becomes a contender in 2013
Foles takes a little more time to develope and the players need time to adapt to the system 2014 or 2015 is more likely our time
Foles sucks and it sets us back alot because we waste 2 or 3 seasons trying to groom him....Then your faced with a dilema, do you go after a veteren QB and take advantage of players like DJax, McCoy, Peters, and the other veterens in their prime while trying to win now or do you just do a full rebuild trade off all those players and become the Cleveland Browns for about 10 seasons or so.

1 - OL / Unless something unforeseen happens,,,, Peters, Herremans, Kelce and Mathis will all be back. Just look around the league at the OLs and those guys don't have to shy away from any team. Obviously we need to add 1 more quality starter. But that OL is in great shape.
2 - DL / Cole, Graham, Cox and an assortment of solid players make up a pretty good DL
???? 3 - QB / here is OBVIOUSLY the big ?????
But luckily for Foles he should have a very good OL in front of him and he has some very good weapons around him in McCoy, Brown, Celek, Jackson and Maclin.
Now hopefully Lurie will get lucky again and come up with another very good coach.
Now em I expecting the next coach to give this team.......................
**8 of 11 years where they win 10 games or more ??? No.
**9 of 11 years they make the playoffs ??? No
**7 division titles in 11 years ??? No
**5 trips to the NFCCG in 11 years ??? No
But what I do want is what Reid gave us excluding his last 2 years. And that is to be talked about as 1 of the better teams in the league every year and then SHOW the league that they are.

No question he's a major Vick supporter, which I don't get after the last two seasons. But at least this wasn't his normal Rainbows and Unicorns, everything's-going-to-be-peachy sort of post.

this place doesn't change much. Still filled with little elementary school bullies. seriously your reduced to talk trash and tease and heckle over the internet. That makes you look very small and weak. C'mon there should be more to you than that, just makes the person your doing to look better than you and I don't think thats the effect your looking for. Look I am no reporter or anything. I do not write articles for a living. But to trash ones posts when you either don't post yourself or yours is no better is pretty hypocritical don't ya think? Just cause were sport fans doesn't mean we have to intentially be ignorant to everyone else who does not share the same opinion...
I think if we played a game next week that Vick would give us the best chance to win. However Foles has the higher ceiling. whether he reaches that is up to him. I do think its time to move on from Vick since with a new coach comes a rebuild anyway so why not find a young starting QB of the eagles to go with the fresh start?

You saw all of that coming huh?
I will always remain possitive because unlike you, whenever we win the big game I want to truly enjoy it instead of having to admit at every turn that I was wrong...

keep Mike Vick
Everything after that is irrelevant.
If you want to pay him $16 million then sure, go ahead and take out a loan.....but his won't be on this payroll come the end of January.
