Cross Bill O’Brien off the Eagles’ short list.
In their search for a head coach, the Eagles interviewed the Penn State coach Thursday, according to media relations chief Derek Boyko. There were reports O’Brien got the whole nine yards at a vacation getaway in Massachusetts.
O’Brien and his agent, Joe Linta, made it clear the coach would stay put at Penn State for at least another year. Among other teams probing O’Brien’s interest in coaching in the NFL were the Cleveland Browns and San Diego Chargers.
The Eagles have an interview scheduled Sunday in Denver with Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.
The Eagles intend to interview Chip Kelly, whose Oregon Ducks defeated Kansas State, 35-17, in the Fiesta Bowl Thursday night, during the weekend. Kelly is the Eagles’ primary target.
