Everybody is all over Jeremy Maclin calling him soft and injury prone (which he is alittle bit) But did you know that....

Jeremy Maclin has caught a team-high 258 receptions since 2009. He also has 26 TDs during that time.
This was pulled off of the Eagles amain page, but it also shows you how good he is. We complain about him alot, but this shows you he is a very good WR

He is a good WR. What those stats don't tell you is how many times he short armed passes and falls to the ground to avoid contact.

Stats can say whatever you want them to,he isn't close to being "a very good WR"

He has the best receiver stats in the first four years of an Eagles career than any other player which I thought was surprising. I thought Fred Barnett or Keith Jackson would have better stats.

Frustrating as he could be really good if he does not get injured so often.

hes the only WR in NFL history to average at least 50 catches 800 yards and 5 TD's in his first 4 seasons or something like that too. Dont understand how, but he is. If not that statline its something like that.

He certainly is an odd player.  He has these bursts of greatness surrounded by weeks of mediocrity.

Maclin is one of the best AND most consistent receivers under the age of 25 in league history. The question now is can he take the next step like elite receivers can and do.

As mentioned above, he has the occasional big game that give his stats a boost, but he also has games where he either isn't relevant at all or is running scared. He's young enough that he still has potential to be a big weapon.

i get to watch a lot of coaches tape on NFL.com from the coaches camera. He gets open a lot and his QB play was poor with Vick. Vick missed a LOT of open WR's this year. I hope Vick fans understand that.

read not long ago that the government is trying to legislate tackling out of football. A lot of teams don't even practice tackling anymore, which is why tackling in general has become so God awful, not just for the Eagles, but other teams as well. It also explains why receivers drop to the ground when they catch the ball, or immediately run out of bounds, or short arm plays when going over the middle. They just aren't used to the contact.

Okay Coach. Your statement can be said of almost every receiver in the NFL. Maclin is a very good receiver - end of discussion.

to those calling maclin inconsistent.......has he had consistent qb play?
were his numbers not starting to jump off the charts in his short time with foles?
What's most impressive about those stats is that he has had to get used to four different qb's in that short time frame. (mcnabb, kolb, vick, foles).
Avoiding contact is smart for a wr. I hate to break it to you but jerry rice (arguably the best of all time) did everything in his power to avoid contact.
Contact=injuries. Injuries=no production.

He's very good, he's young, and I don't get as infuriated by his "softness" as most...but I still think I'd move on.  He's not as explosive as I'd like.  We could do a hell of a lot worse, but I just want more.  2 elite wrs with a quality qb and pass protection are the way to build a winner in this league.  Maclin is not and will not be elite.  He's a complementary wr.

no. wrong. jerry rice maybe avoided unnecessary hits, maclin avoids ALL hits. Rice didnt intentionally drop the ball over the middle to not get hurt. sorry.

You must be watching a different Maclin than the one that suits up for this franchise.

If you watch the entire NFL you would see that mac actually alligator arms passes less than some of the elite receivers in this league

A quick check tells us he fell slightly short in 2009, but has achieved those numbers since. What we really want is for him to break 1000 yards and double digit TD's consistently for the next few seasons. I, for one, see that potential.

By golly, he's frustrating for now though.

This was a wierd year to grade our WR's, although they both missed a good amount of time.
  • DJacks inconsistent "short" year was a result of Vicks struggles early in the year. DJack was paced to have a good rec yard year but not so many TD's once again.
  • As soon as Maclin would show up he would get injured, early on in the year if he wasn't healthy he was quiet.
  • As soon as DJack started to play decent Vick got hurt and Foles came in and the game plans were different, DJack was not that involved and then he got hurt, IR'd.
  • Maclin started to play better when Foles came in because he was our best WR and once Foles got more comfortable he targeted Maclin.
So my point is that DJack racks up the yards but is silent in the RZ, and sometimes vice versa with Maclin.

Foles never had time to evolve with #10 and #18 in consectutive games.

In my opinion Maclin and DJack can get the job done if used properly but neither of the two are true #1 WR's on this team. Both get abused in the RZ and neither can win a jump ball in the RZ is called upon. But what can we honestly do at this point trade them both and try to replace them? Doesn't work like that, but if both are back in 2013 then they need to step up foreal.

both sides are right from the film. Maclin doesnt get the ball enough when he's open and maclin definitely does not like going over the middle.
