If Grimes or Smith hit FA, I would love one of them to replace Asomugha. If DRC also leaves, then I would like us to draft a CB in the 1st while picking up one of those CBs.

I think it's pretty likely he's a starter next season.

DRC isn't physical
Good points and while you are right about him not being physical, he is an exceptional talent WHEN he tries/plays hard. Probably the fastest CB in the league and in the top 3 as far as fastest player at any position in the league. Hes tall, lanky, long arms, extremely athletic, great acceleration, and tremendous speed. He has the ingredients to be a top 3 CB in the league, but thats just my opinion.

He didn't ONLY play the slot in college. He was mostly an outside corner who played slot as well.

But considering his struggles,, I would say no, it doesn't appear he can be a typical outside starting CB.
But for the most part you defense consists of 12 distinct starters now.
That 12th starter is the slot CB. And that appears to fit him nice. Yes he struggled plenty this year. But there was enough to see that said he COULD be a very good slot CB.

I agree he did have bad season which is strange because he had a good preseason.
One thing is for sure, keep him in the slot covering vertically challenged WR's, he's too short to cover anyone over 6'00''.

Not to sound like an arse, but basically a nickle CB (slot) is basically a starter. Now if you mean in the sense of a traditional starting CB I would say no.
Now granted, I get it that him struggling last year is typical for rookies. But I just don't see him being on the outside.
I think the bigger question is can MARSH start at 1 of the outside spots.

What ever happened to building this team to compete against the teams we actually play? All this BPA BS is just that, BS. We need to build a squad that will get done the job at hand - beating the Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins. As we evaluate each positional player, this is question we need to have answered: Is this man better than the opposite players on our divisional opponents? If he can't compete in the NFC East, we don't need him.
Case in point: Nnamdi Asomougha. May have been a shutdown corner in a weak NFC West, but in the East he was regularly beat.

And you know that how ???
Not saying he can. We just haven't seen enough of him to know. And god knows we can't go by who was playing and who wasn't.
Keep in mind, if Bradley comes here, Marsh at 6'-1" / 200lbs will get a chance to show what he can and can't do.

Well yeah there's always that possibility but what I've seen from with my own eyes is that Boykin is clearly a better player than Marsh. Boykin plenty on the outside while he was at Georgia so we know he's capable of doing it. Anytime I've seen marsh in the game, which isn't much, he's gotten beaten
I guess there's no sure way of knowning until we see them both out there next summer but as of now, I'd take my chances with Boykin.
