It was reported that the Eagles asked permission from the Bengals to interview Jay for the HC position. Anything you can tell us Dave?

I wouldn't mind Jay, but if we're going to interview a Bengals coach, I'd rather have Zimmerman.

Yeah, and Zimmer wouldn't be a bad guy to check out, either.

No, I didn't want him before. That game did nothing to change my mind.

Dave -

Can you please let Jeff Lurie know that Jay Gruden would be the worst hire in the history of sports outside of maybe Rich Kotite and please don't even enterain the idea?

Thanks

BP

I am close with people on the inside of the Bengals organization. Marvin Lewis and Jay Gruden are both jokes and without Zimmer keeping that defense firing the past numbers of years - Lewis would be out of a job by now. Jay Guden is horrible and should not be considered.

Well I thought Gruden was doing a good job with Dalton and Green but it could also be that they are talented players making him look good at the same time.

Why the Eagles didn't interview Horton while in Arizona is bothering me. From all accounts he is a great up and coming HC candidate.

Lurie isn't going to let a guy with braids run the show.

If another 10 candidates decide they aren't interested, it might be Grudin's turn to interview.

That is my only fear about how this thing is going.

Zero interest in Jay Gruden - Zimmer is the only Bengal coach I'd even consider talking to.

...and they don't appear interested in Zimmer. Odd. Now we see they interviewed Brian Kelly, and ESPN is ripping the Eagles approach so far to replacing Reid. Chip Kelly was obviously who the FO really wanted and he went back to school, now we're looking at another gimmicky college coach.

Yeah, I posted in another thread how there seems to be no rhyme or reason.

Don't want Kelly and don't want any part of Jay Gruden.       But, damn, just identify your target, whoever it is, and go lock him up.

For some reason, I thought I was replying to a Jon Gruden thread, not a Jay Gruden thread. I don't want to even consider thinking about Jay Gruden.

I think Jay Grudin said he is staying with Cincy.  Jon Grudin is begging for an interview.

Yeah, that's why I wouldn't have responded had I realized it was a Jay Gruden thread, though Jay did say he wanted to go through with interviews. I wouldn't have him in at all after saying he was staying in Cincy.

The rat faced Colin Cowherd says its a great fit, so I guess we're wrong. According to him, he's an offensive mind and a tough guy approach to football. Me? I see another Bobby Petrino, and there might not be a coach I respect less than Petrino.

That alone pretty much convinces me that we're right.
