Apparently, someone with proven HC experience isnt going to be a option....So instead of Lovie Smith(who would be great for this team)....My nod goes to Gus Bradley,...just dont expect me to sit here and kiss Seahawk @$$ about him.

Geneticfreak and Bray, you are both right. The Eagles are a mess, but none of us will care how or who IF the Eagles win the Super Bowl. I don't want Kelly at all, but if it happens and they were to win a SB, then I'd be his biggest fan.
I've been to many stadiums in the NFL and the skins fans are far from the only ones that leave early when the home team loses. Many Eagle fans leave early as well. I think it is lame also....I agree with you. However, it is more common than not.

And since the fans won't choose the coach, I'm on board with whoever they select......just please don't choose Kelly. Ha ha

There's a difference between leaving early when you are 4-12 and leaving early in your first home playoff game in 14 years.  The redskins team deserved some applause from the fans for a great season after the game.  They didn't deserve everyone bailing in a 10 point game.

That poll just says who they think they might take not who they actually want.
BG> Gus Bradley is the guy i been wanting ever since koetter got resigned and thats Y. They play hard physical D and they pretty much shut down the skins in the 2 half

Gus Bradley would be my choice too. We need to get physical and play sound, smart, disciplined Defense. Kelly's D coordinator said it himself that Kelly comes to check on the defense "once in a while". Can't win that way. Bradley could bring some toughness to this group. This Defense misses tackles, are afraid to tackle, misses assignments constantly, can't stop the run, can't stop the pass and is prone to the big play, and those are just a few. Hoping Chip Kelly in the next day or so maybe even tonight says he's going back to Oregon. He can make the decision for us and we can move on. Come on Front Office the sexy name won't get this fixed. The right guy might.

Seattles D has been tearing it up all season. We need Gus to fix our D and make opposing team fear us again

dave,
as recently as last season, all you did is defend Andy Reid .  Now that andy isn't here, you have to admit that his drafts have been poor and that is directly responsible for the teams problems,  BY THE WAY, Earl Thomas had another great game , and his headed to another pro bowl.. just wanted you to know

Do we need a Defensive minded HC or a high quality Defensive Coordinator? The Defense definitely had Buddy Ryan's hard nosed personality when he was HC, but wasn't the D better under Andy with JJ as the DC?

Woody...La Canfora might be right because he probably had 2 jobs already lined up with Cleveland and Philly and hasn't taken either he is probably just using these interviews to get a raise from Oregon to make more money

If we hire a good HC that can hire a good staff like AR in his early yrs with Childress and JJ it will not matter if he is O or D minded

BG93: eagles became a soft team during Reid's last 4-5 seasons. In fact, we can all think of games when Johnson's D wasn't all that...it dominated lesser teams and was  challenged by physical teams. Getting away from tree stump DTs and powerful linebackers lessened Johnson's D. I thought it usually fell short in the clutch.

Woody...we did become soft toward the end with AR.....How much of JJ D lacking was the fault of AR playcalling though it hard for your D to play successful when they don't get a break at all.

AR quick stike O was great every now but when all we do is score fast or have 3 and outs the D will tire out fast.

This team will never go anywhere without a strong defense...the man is Gus Bradley...defense needs a complete makeover and he's the one to do it. He can hire a good, young, innovative, bright mind to be the OC...and we have our cake and eat it too.

My last post about Chip Kelly..and why Jeff Lurie might have needed 9 hours with him...http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/01/07/why-chip-kelly-may-be-waiting-for-belichick-to-retire/

Both New Englanders. Lurie is a serious student of the game of football. No doubt Kelly has some good ideas and opinions.

Now, lets get a headcoach hired.

>>mike1023 : meaning no respect to Jim Johnson, I wasn't  a fan of his defenses. Johnson took over as DC from the DC of the Rhodes era:Emmitt Thomas. The Eagles defense under Ray Rhodes was a couple of steps backwards from the defenses of Bud Carson or Jeff Fisher. That said, Johnson was an improvement over Emmitt Thomas bend but don't break style...but Johnson's squads appeared starved for adequate personnel: between Banner's "cap management" and AR's disengagement from the personnel needs of the D...Johnson did an imaginative and successful job. With AR, if the player wasn't a DE or DB..anyone could be made to play D. My opinion is that Johnson was always playing with fingers in the dyke.

I think Lurie realizes that he screwed up big time by firing Reid.  Now there isn't one coach on our list that can even compare to Reid.  What a mess!
