Dave -

I was just wondering how Jeffrey is feeling today after getting toyed with by Chip Kelly.    Guy spends nine (!) hours interviewing with him only as a ruse to get more dough from another billionaire (Phil Knight).    Is Jeff pissed off at this ridiculousness or did the Eagles brass legitimately think they had a shot at landing this clown?

Just curious...

Who cares Chip is just hurting himself in the end if he really wants to come to NFL one day. Right now he might be smiling all the way to the bank but that **** catches up with people #karma

How did he get played?  Not only is the company interviewing the candidate, but the candidate is interviewing the company.  It just didn't work out.

Not that I wanted kelly, but I'm glad that Lurie is doing his due diligence.

Chip never said he was leaving to go anywhere.  He said he would listen to what the NFL had to say and then he would make his decision.  Not his fault everyone  else was pretending he was 100% going to the NFL..It doesn't mean it was reality or that he has to do anything he doesn't want to do.  Just because most people are unwanted losers with no options doesn't mean you have to hate someone who is in demand,  has several options, weighs them, and then does what he thinks is best.

Chip is very comfortable at Oregon and he has a great gig. He explored and he stays at Oregon. The Eagles interviewed him, as he was on their list. They are interviewing a lot of candidates. I don't see the big deal. The time spent with Kelly didn't impede the Eagles in any way. Again, no hard feelings and I don't think Jeffrey has any, either. This is the business side of coaching. Everyone involved understands how it works.

The top Division I coaches make NFL $, so it's not like he was enamored with a big pay raise.....in the end, he went with what he was most comfortable with, and I have no problem with that. A lot of college coaches join the professional ranks and fail miserably, yet their return to college usually garners a lot more success. Sometimes people just know where they belong and choose to stay there.

Next.............

FTR I couldn't care less if Lurie got played.    He did, though.    Between this fiasco and the crap he pulled with Malcolm Glazer, I wouldn't expect him to ever get a sniff of the NFL again.

Lurie didn't get played, they simply went through a hiring process. If anyone got played it was the Oregon boosters. Kelly did the same thing last year and got his assistant coaches a nice raise. This year he will more than likely get the money.

If you are a proven winner, year in and year out, you will always get offers for NFL head coaching positions. There will be even more teams interested in him next year!

If Oregon goes 12-1 again next season or possibly wins a National Championship, don't you think more Teams will be after him?

It didn't stop them from interviewing Marrone?

You also have to wonder just how attractive this job is to people, really, despite what Lurie tries to tell everyone.

i wonder how much of a stumbling block Howie is.......his lack of football pedigree and track record have to hurt in some ways.

Lurie didn't get played, Joe Banner was played.  Not one leak came from the Eagles org. that they were close to signing with Kelly.  Meeting for nine hours does not dictate an offer was made.  However, it was reported to the media that the Browns were close to signing Kelly before the Eagles meeting.  ****THAT**** is called getting played.  So much that the Browns repsponse is to act like a dumped 15 yr. old girl.  "Oh I didn't want you anyway, creep."

Are you suggesting a shyster lawyer with no practical football knowledge or formal training isn't the best person to be running a professional football organization?
