There are plenty of needs, clearly, and it's going to be hard to fill all of them in a single offseason. Other than RB, is there a position on this team that you wouldn't challenge?

There are 3 problems as I see it.

1- The numerous holes in the starting lineup.

2- With so many holes in the starting lineup, the backups are also bad.

3- Herremans and Peters. Both are 30 yrs old. Due to issues 1 and 2, It's possible this team will take 3-4 years to really get this turned around. Olineman tend to have long careers but do they really maintain a high level of play at this point?

I agree with your locks but Todd Herm has been an excellent lineman and should be a lock. As far WR, if you're only saying one of the starting two are locks, Jackson to me is that guy. Maclin gets hurt more and produces less.
I agree with you re: Herremans although he has been hurt and is ~ 30 ( I suppose you could say the same thing about Peters).

I don't feel like checking the numbers but I wouldn't be surprised if Maclin played more games and was more productive than Djax certainly over the last 2 years.

Jackson had over a thousand yards receiving even supposedly in is "down year" when he wasn't "really trying. Considering he was a mid second round pick and Maclin was a first round pick who has yet to gain 1,000 yards receiving even one time, I'd say Jackson has been more productive. Maclin will have monster games where he gets double digit receptions for triple digit yardage and some tds, and then limp off the field after one or two catches the next. Not saying I want rid of him, I'd keep them both.

This team blows. Mike McCormack couldn't do any worse with these clowns.

Maclin has played more games and has more tds over the last 4 years and the yardage numbers aren't all that different.  They are both good wrs that lack durability and can disappear from games.  I agree that you have to keep them both (and they are both under contract next year) but I they aren't as good as I had hoped.

Get a legit big WR and put Jackson in the slot where he belongs, and both he and Maclin will be what we always hoped they would be.    And for crying out loud, have Jackson return punts again.      Enough with the idiocy - use these two correctly and they will thrive.

I've become convinced that the problem with talent underperforming here has more to do with how they were used than the talent simply being subpar, which is the crap we were fed by Spadaro et al after the 'coaches' had determined that they had 'failed'.       We see the obvious 'square peg / round hole' disasters like Gocong, Simineau, and Considine, where the players were ripped and run out of town instead of the idiot who put them in position to fail.         Then there is Greg Lewis returning punts, linemen playing fullback, a halfback told to play fullback, Brandon Graham stuck at DT as a rookie, etc., etc.

When we hopefully get competent people in here, I can't wait to see some of the talent we had written off start to play the way we hoped they would when they were drafted.       The shame is all the ones that may have gotten away while we wasted the last several years.

I'm with you, but I'd like to see how they do with consistent QB play and a sane offensive approach.

Chris Clemmons....

I think Reid became stale along with the offense.  Honestly Reid lost his fire and the team is a reflection of his coach.  Comfortable...not young and hungry

Agreed, comfortable, arrogant and soft.
