John Clark NBC10@johnclarknbc10
Ron Jaworski on 975 Fanatic says he talked with Jon Gruden. Eagles havent reached out to Gruden, and says Jon would be interested.

Im not a big fan of Jon Gruden either, but surprised Eagles didnt even remotely consider it.

I would imagine Jon would be interested in any offer right now because he hasn't gotten any.

But this is not new news, last week it came out that Gruden and Cowher were not on our list for coaches.

Maybe because people are smart enough to realize that he won a Super Bowl with Tony Dungy's team,  then proceeded to ruin them.

I honestly think everyone realized how much of a clown this dude is once he took over MNF. Hes one of the least knowledgeable guys ive ever heard in the booth.

If I were Jon, I would stay in the booth, he seems to like it there because its a relatively stress free environment.

Arians would be a good choice too.    No thanks on McCoy,  the Broncos offense stunk until Peyton got there.

He's a good option in the event that no top candidate will accept the position on account of Roseman's "non-football guyness."

Gus Bradley is my number 1 choice but Jon Gruden would be #2. Gruden was considered a better mind on offense than either McCoy or Arians. It really goes against reason that people would assume that one of those 2 unproven guys would do better than Gruden,

If you listen to the video interview between Lurie and Spads, its clear that the next coach isnt going to be someone whos not been coaching.  Without actively working at the craft, the game has passed these guys by from that standpoint.  Glad to hear that viewpoint from the FO.

This is not even remotely accurate - Gruden took over a hopeless Raiders team and made them relevent in his 3rd season there. Missed a trip to the Super Bowl with the Raiders due to the "Tuck Rule" that was added in 1999. Jon Gruden did with Dungy's team what Dungy couldn't and beat the Raiders team he revived to do it. The Buccaneers were ruined because they gave up their 2002, 2003 1st round picks and 2002, 2004 2nd round picks - and because Rich McKay left for Atlanta. Bruce Allen is more to blame for the demise of the Buccaneers than Jon Gruden is.

Once again you're not thinking things through. How many OC could get enough offensive production for a team to get into the playoffs and beat the Steelers with Tebow as the QB?

Gruden has been analyzing games and film breakdowns for a few years. Hard to say the game has passed him by

Agreed. I want young blood anyways. Someone looking to make a name for himself. Someone looking forward to revuilding this team and developing a QB. I think Mr Lurie has taken the right approach by sitting down interviewing as many guys as possible and then making his decision based on who he was most impressed by.

Not to mention Peyton Manning gave the guy a ringing endorsement to be a HC somewhere. I trust Manning.

Really? Do you watch MNF weekly or just when the Eagles play. The guy is a clown and a terrible analyst.

I agree that Gruden still has his head in the game, but I got the feeling that we are looking for a guy who has been making the decisions on the field..not from the media.

That was a fluke.   Al Davis bought a bunch of journeymen who had one last gasp.   Gruden had little to do with that general manager wise.  And there is no guarantee the Raiders would have beat the Steelers in the AFC title even if they had won the tuck rule,  but as cheesy as it was the tuck rule was still a legit rule.

And whether Gruden won with the Bucs or not,  it was still the team Tony Dungy put together.   Dungy could have won himself if they had simply brought in a decent offensive coordinator.  So General manager wise,  Tony Dungy does deserve most of the credit for the Super Bowl win general manager wise,  even if it wasn't head coach wise.

Quit defending this tool,  if I'm wrong,  why is no one interested in him?   Can you answer that?

I've said this before but it bares repeating Peyton Manning did NOT give McCoy a ringing endorsement. If any of you have done reference checks (and I've done many) you'd understand. Peyton used the word 'good' often when describing McCoy, not best or great. And he ended with 'deserves a shot'. That's in fact a weak endorsement.

Compare that to what Monte Kiffin said about Bradley. He called him an A-plus and one of the finest if not the finest coaches he's ever worked with. That's a ringing endorsement

They have been inept for years till Peyton came along.   No thanks.
