Was his name mentioned anywhere? Would he be any good? He is a good defensive mind, at least. I'm assuming it would mean a switch over to the 3-4...possible? any thoughts?

My thoughts are that it's pointless to speculate about who the DC will be before the HC has even been hired.

That will be up to the head coach.

But it was up to me, I'd say no...seems like he fails anywhere he goes.

yeah kinda getting ahead of myself, i know...

i'm just excited to see this d get back to its old ways and just looking at whats out there as far as DCs in case they hire an offensive guy to be HC

and yeah, crennell failed as HC, but he was a really good DC for years - wouldnt be the first of his kind, doesnt mean he cant coach a defense.

Can we get a HC first?  Coordinators and position coaches are totally irrelevent until the HC position is filled.  You need coaches that meet the HC philosophy.

I'd rather worry about the HC before I start thinking about a DC or an OC. As it stands at this moment, we already have an OC and DC and STC... they will most likely be fired once the new HC comes in, but they're still there at this moment.

yeah what has he done since spygate? failed with the browns and failed with the chiefs. his biggest achievement since parting with the hoodie is ruining the packers undefeated season.

I think he would be an amazing fit here.  In terms of handling the pace of defending on a team that has a fast pace ofense, he actually has the experience of doing so by being the defensive coordinator in New England (one of the best examples of a fast pace offense in the NFL).  I also like the fact that he has proven to be one of the best defensive coordinators in the league, but had a chance to be head coach twice, and it didn't work out.  He could be here for many years without having some team snatch him away from us.  If Chip is good friends with Belichick, I can imagine Bill putting a good word for Romeo.

I think the Saints are really gonna go after Crennel because of the Parcells connection.

When he coached in New England they were not a fast paced team. They were a much slower, dink and dunk and run the ball kind of offense. Remember 'Clock killin' Corey Dillon"? Not until they got Welker and Moss did their offense explode and evolve into the power house it is now. And Romeo's D's were only really good the 3 years the Pats won the superbowl oddly enough. Pretty mediocre out side of that. His Chiefs D was decent until he became the head coach and their offense blew.
