I hope Jeff Fisher realizes that he'll hardly be on camera now. The sideline shots are almost exclusively on Ryan.

Had I not known better, I'd have thought Ryan was the Cowboys' head coach because they hardly showed Jason Garrett and seemed focused on Ryan.

Guess they're going to switch a 3-4 now, which is kind of puzzling to me.  Their players to build around are Chris Long (arguably the most underrated player in the league), Michael Brockers, and Robert Quinn.  All amazing 4-3 defensive lineman and I don't know how they would transition to a 3-4, especially with Long and Quinn presumably becoming LBs...I think they are both a little too big to play the position.

I'm pretty sure the son of Buddy Ryan knows the 4-3.

I'm sure he does, but it doesn't seem to be his thing.  I may be wrong but has he ever run it as a D-coordinator?

How interesting. Jeff Fisher was the person who replaced Buddy Ryan as defensive coordinator with the Oilers in 1994 and now he hires his son.

Naw, that's only because Garrett is boring as F.... I've seen more emotion and fire in a turtle.

I bet Rob Ryan will do just fine. It only took 5 minutes for him to get rehired.

LOL true, I wonder who's more boring? At least Garrett claps once and awhile, I guess.

Yes, in Oak, after his failed attempt at having Sapp play DE, and former DE who was 6' 8" 280 at OLB and other assorted misfits in his F up 3/4, then he went 4'3 and had a top ten defense. The guy is pure fluff like his brother and dad

This isn't a bad hire for the Rams.  Rob Ryan isn't the kind of DC you want in 100% control of the D, but if he is under a defensive HC like Fisher, then he should be fine.

Buddy brought Fisher from Chicago to Philadelphia.  Fisher played for Buddy as a db.  Buddy also supported him for the hc job here over Kotite back at that time.

He said he never spoke to the Rams, and that he was hanging out on the beach.

Those Ryan's spend way too much time on the beach for the physiques they have.  For everyone's sake, hopefully they're the tshirt in the pool type of guys.

A little longer than five minutes but still...Rams hired former Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan as their defensive coordinator.

How long do you give him? 1, 2 or 3 years before he's fired again?

Good question, his defenses from what I have seen are pretty vanilla, does'nt seem to scare anyone IMO

Yeah, he had the job and now....NOT. I wonder if the Rams are  letting Ryan save face by calling this an incompatability in schemes rather than calling it a firing.

And I also wonder whether his comment about having another job "in five minutes" is coming back to bite him. On ESPN yesterday, Tony Kornheiser quipped that it's been "about 30,000 minutes".

He'll be with the Saints. They need a 3-4 guy. He was turned back because he refused to run a 4-3.

Could actually be decent with a solid offense.

Funny thing about this is, his best defense he ever fielded was when he switch to the 4-3 in Oak after his whacky (Tyler Brayton at  OLB @  6' 8" 280+ ) 3-4 failed, he was in the top 10 after he switched, Sappa & Burgess both had 10 + sacks too
