King Dunlap is as good of a player as Dominique Rogers-Cromartie is bad.   I have this on the good authority of the self-ordained stats geniuses of Pro Football Focus.  In their NFL Free Agency section under the Eagles team heading they rated all the potential Eagles Free Agents.   King Dunlap leads the list at a rating of plus 7.1, while Dominique Rogers-Cromartie trails the list at minus 7.1.  Ergo, I interpret that to say that King Dunlap is as good of a player as Dominique Rogers-Cromartie is a bad player.  If I have somehow misinterpreted that and one of you other (rose) budding stats geniuses would care to enlighten (also known as explaining or wishing away) me, you may do so.

On a related note, It appears the ingenious and svelte former Eagles coach, Andy Reid has snatched up to be his coordinator of statistical analysis, some guy from the Eagles.  You know...what's-his-name.  I believe this is a very bad thing for the Eagles crew, because now they must start a new search for their Rosebud of the future.

ive never thought dunlap was as bad as taters make him out to be, taters just need some one to pick on it makes them feel less miserable, dunlap was the flavor of the month for tater hate.

he's a good backup who can play a few positions, every team needs a swing tackle and dunlap can fill that role.

king dunlap is a prime example of why the lurie/banner/reid philosophy doesn't work.  he's totally untalented, but he was kept around b/c he worked cheap.  reid never cared enough about roster depth and banner never wanted to pay for it, and that's why they're both gone.

i think they were more enamored of his impressive stature. a man that size, if they could coach him up, well, they'd have an absolute stud. also, andy loves showing people how smart he is.

but that's beside the point. aside from turning king dunlap into queen dunlap, mudd also turned bell into complete crap - a guy that was at least semi-competent in his last gig.

right, which is ok, that's what 7th-round picks are for, fliers/projects.  what i'm saying is that any other team would've cut him 3 years ago...reid/banner never cared about who was on their bench, as long as they didn't have to pay them a lot.

While it is obvious that Dunlap is far far from starter material, the sad fact and truth is that DECENT reserve OL are so hard to find in the NFL that 100% of EVERY TEAM in the NFL has a King Dunlap on their team. Many have 2 of that quality.
So the Eagles keeping a player of that talent is 100% absolutely normal.
Sad but true.

I keep saying this, but fans really need to watch the other 31 teams on a regular basis and understand what is in this league at every position and who is on the bench for all 32 teams.

the FO isnt cheap they just dont spend their money wiseley. Instead of investing in quality depth they overpay 5-6 guys and the rest of the team sucks. Notice how the Eagles more than any other team gets completely burned by injuries because we invest 0 money into backups.

Wait so where do you find these star backup tackles?  You do realize that bell was the best available starting tackle last off season.  Few teams have any talent at backup tackle.

You expect your backups to be average, not even good.  Average should win half of their battles.  King Dunlap didn't win anywhere near that much.  He's a horrible starter.  He's a bad backup.  You can find so much better than him without much effort.

king dunlap is a big ole boy, once we get a chance to work with him this year im sure we can mold him into a serviceable tackle. a little focus and some confidence is gonna go along way with that big fella.
