* Lurie has had his life spiral out of control the past few years. Lost his wife, his best friend who helped him set the table with this franchise and now Big Red. All of his security blankets and/or close allies are gone. His early 2000's "gold standard" has unraveled into just another franchise and all of the wind powered toilets aren't going to help him right now.
So. When people find themselves in those spots - are completely insecure - they will look for yes men. They will make sure people reassure them they are great and that while reality is things are in shambles - they want to at least feel powerful. Dan Snyder is the king of this.
Lurie is trying to recapture his roots from 1999 but Lurie will never have this again. Roseman serves as the young, upstart, Jewish (I said it) wunderkind that Lurie wants to believe he has. Roseman has pushed the right buttons, climbed the ladder and now is given keys he has not earned.
Real men - real leaders - know this. So when interviewing - this has to be an intriguing discussion. Because even listening to Roseman talk on PE.COM - is hard for me. He's trying so hard to pretend he's a grown up and big boy but he comes off just over his head.
Lurie only has him at this point. Beyond that - Lurie has no other security blanket. Kudos - at least - for Roseman setting this up like this. Now the pressure is on his head.

And that's the key. If this thing implodes there is nowhere for Roseman to hide, and Lurie is sure as hell not going to flush his billion dollar asset down the toilet out of loyalty for a yes man and security blanket
It didn't need to come to this - the appropriate time for major change was after the 2007 season. Things were more stable, and Reid hadn't completely trashed the franchise yet. We'd be five years removed, and who knows what might have been achieved in years where 9-7 teams were winning Super Bowls.

Care to elaborate further, or have you stepped in enough??
