I think all in all, I'd rather have Graham than Thomas.

According to Profootballfocus.com, Graham was actually the #2 rated 4-3 DE on a per-play basis, while Thomas was something like the #36 rated safety.

If you watch the Seahawks games, Thomas isn't even the best safety on the team. Chancellor is better. Thomas gives up big plays and gets trucked in the run game too often.

Graham, on the other hand, has shown ability vs. both the run and the pass this year in limited snaps. He forced several strip-sacks in games this year and got consistent pressure in several games. He could still develop into an All-Pro caliber player who deserves to be named an All-Pro, unlike Earl Thomas, who is an All-Pro in name only.

While I agree Graham is coming along well and stepping up to become a very solid player and that Thomas is slightly overrated, this is a stretch.  Who knows that will happen with either one but right now Thomas definitely the better player IMO.

Let me guess, the "trucked in the run" thing came after watching the Jacquizz run today?

Still wish we had him, only because while even if Graham is the better player, S is a bigger hole on the team.

I feel that Eagles fans desperately needed Earl Thomas to cling to in the wake of Dawkins leaving. We as a whole became accustomed to a standout safety, and after Macho Harris/Quentin Demps it was even more apparent. More about having a hopeful leader than anything else, to me.

Earl Thomas is nothing like Dawk. He was 3rd in the league for Missed Tackles & 1st for Missed Tackle Percentage

3 picks in one game! Kurt will start next year and break the INT mark and we'll go to the SUPER BOWLZZZZ.

NOT.

Thomas really is overrated. We don't have many safeties that make picks on overthrown balls because they suck at deep coverage and are always out of position. I think Allen might be able to salvage a starting role if he plays more of a traditional FS, center fielder role. But time will tell. Kurt definitely needs to go.

At this point, I'd much rather have a rebounding Graham than Thomas. Thomas is ok but we can do much better IMO.

All the more reason to get on the Gus Bus. He'll be able to sort out the S position.

The picks Thomas has made in the playoffs haven't been easy ones.  He's a ballhawk.  Certainly much better than any safety we've had since #20.  Graham was our best DE this year, though.  Cole isn't getting any younger so we'd be in a lot of trouble at that spot without him.

I'll be waiting for the names

That's really cute that you guys are already rationalizing that a guy who just won a starting job and is 5 sacks removed from having been labeled a bust is now better than a proven probowl player.  Hope never dies.

Cute.

Still... I'd rather have one good safety (or even adequate), than another good defensive end.  Given the choice, I'd take Thomas... but that being said, I do not regret getting Graham.
