Here's the key... Whisenhunt never found or developed a QB with Arizona. He had an already established, borderline HOF QB fall into his lap. That SB run was about as lucky/flukey as it gets.
you mean like Belichick's?

There was nothing lucky/flukey about Arizona's run to the SB - I think you totally underestimate how difficult it is to identify/develope the quality of QB that is necessary to contend for a SB. It is quite possible that Whisenhunt doesn't have that specific talent - that doesn't make him a bad HC.

Belichick failed miserably in Cleveland because he couldn't identify/develope a QB there. He wasn't doing much better in New England with Bledsoe. Brady was inserted because Bledsoe was injured - not because Bledsoe was playing bad. A slight fluke in history is the difference between Belichick being hailed as a genius and another failed tenure as an NFL head coach.

I'm not on any Whisenhunt band wagon - I'm simply stating that an opinion that Whisenhunt is a bad HC because of the end result in Arizona is an uninformed opinion.

I really stop reading after the Brian Billick interview. So Howard and yourself think at a busy time like this the eagles are interviewing people to make them feel good?

Lol..

Those were his words. It does sound kind of ridiculous.

They didn't like Gus so much that they called for a second interview. Why does eskin keep talking?

No actually nothing like that. At all.

Brady was drafted and developed by Belichick's staff, so how is it even remotely similar? Not to mention that New England has been doing it for 10 years, not just one fluky postseason.

Bill Walsh drafted Joe Montana and groomed him to take over for Steve DeBerg. Not the same as Bill Belichick taking a flyer on Brady and later inserting him only because Blesoe got hurt. That Brady turned into a HOF QB that fell in Belichick's lap is exactly what you are discrediting Whisenhunt for by being fortunate with Kurt Warner. The difference is that Warner was old when he got to Arizona. Belichick had no idea what he had in Brady - so I would consider him luckier.

I wouldn't hate Whisenhunt but it wouldn't be the exciting hire I expected at the beginning of the search.  However, I could see him performing much better in Philly for several reasons.  One, Arizona's drafts on the offensive side of the ball were of the all-time bad variety.  I can't think of a single good offensive player the Cards have drafted in the Whisenhunt era.  Too early to tell on Floyd.  You get him a good QB (might be Foles, might not) and don't crap the bed during the draft and he may very well lead this team deep into the playoffs.

My question would be his staff.  Their OL was terrible in Arizona.  While that certainly could've been due to poor drafting you also have to look at Russ Grimm and what he's capable of.  DC?  Even if it was Ray Horton you would have to put up with the headache of switching to a 3-4 and put up with the possibility of losing him in 2014.  OC?  Certainly not whoever it was last season in Arizona.

Eskin didn't actually report the Eagles didn't like Gus Bradley. He reported that a source he talked to didn't like him so he wasn't sure if the Eagles would go in that direction. Eskin never came out and said the Eagles don't want Gus Bradley.

Please lord anyone but Whisenhunt.  That guy is a joke. He'd probably screw up Foles. Cause he sure didn't do Kolb, Skelton , Lindley  or Hoyer any damn good in their developments. It was a QB revolving door out there this  last season. He's another holds " no accountability for bad play"  coach. I've listened to his post game press conferences and he is a duplicate of Andy Reid. I can only speak for myself but I've had enough of that kind of coach to last me the rest of my life.
