He's in the Eli Manning "not elite but who gives a F I'm a SB champ" category.

Happy to see a fellow UDel grad get a ring.

If Flacco wins this SuperBowl he will have the same amount of SuperBowls as Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning, and Kurt Warner.

The only thing that is holding Joe Flacco back from being mentioned with the Bradys, Mannings, Rodgers is the Ravens were always a run 1st team.
The last 2 years they have become more of a passing team and your starting to see how good of a arm Flacco actually has. Plus now his OL is playing great and you are starting to see the true Joe Flacco when he has time to pass the ball. He is a GREAT QB IMO
the only thing?!?!?   No,  his regular season stats(check out the completion % to blow your theory out of the water) are what keeps him out of consideration.

Now, the gameplan has him passing down field a ton more than most.  That is a real hit to his  completion %.   If he is given the chance for more check downs, like all other QB use to boost their stats, then the raven would do a bit better in the regular season(lost to the eagles of all teams) and flacco will go up in everyone's eyes.

He can be elite,  but the plays would have to be called to help him out in that department.

Another playoff run like this past one, yes. It takes more than one run to be elite.

Super Bowl Champion
SuperBowl MVP
most road win in NFL PLAYOFF HISTORY
atleast 1 playoff win in his 1st 5 seasons-- 1st QB to ever do that.

What else does he need to do to be elite? So what he doesnt pass for 4500yds a season or throw 30td passes... He WINS, isnt that all that matters in the NFL?  The ppl that dont think he is elite b/c he isnt in the top 5 of yds and td passes every season like Brees/manning and co need to stop playing fansty football. Stop worrying about stats... the only stats that matter at the end of the season is w/l

Do you think Peyton Manning would trade places with Flacco this season? Manning has the stats, but Flacco has the ring.

ELITE!

I'm not voting, only because I don't want to. But, his numbers and his playoff/ SB record indicate that he is. I am of the belief that he needs to do it 2 more seasons to truly considered elite.

To me, elite is top 10% and that is being fairly generous. Is Flacco the 3rd or 4th best QB in the league?

Look at his career playoff numbers.

all this elite stuff is commical. You put Flacco on Dallas, behind that OL and they'd win 6 games. Guy had a great playoff run, no doubt about it, probably throws one of the best deep balls in teh NFL, but he isn't a diffrence maker.

Give me a break dude.  Next you're going to tell me that Romo could've done what Flacco did this year if he was on the Ravens.

I give Flacco a lot of credit, they wouldn't have done any of this without him...having said that, it really is amazing how many incredible catches his receivers HAVE to make for him. I don't know if that' more a product of Flacco always giving his receivers a chance to make a play, or is it that his receivers are unbelievable at shielding defenders and making tough catches in the air.

Boldin in particular has done it throughout these playoffs, one amazing catch after the other.

I've heard this argument too and can't help but laugh.

He puts the ball in a position for his receivers to make plays... as if that makes him any less of a QB?

Also, have we forgotten years past?  It was his receivers that dropped perfectly thrown balls at critical moments that cost them definitely one, possibly two other SB appearances the past 5 years.

Bingo. He should have been in the superbowl vs the Giants in 2011 instead of the Pats. He drove the Ravens down the field in under the 2 min warning only to have a perfect thrown TD pass dropped by Lee Evans then 2 plays later Cundiff kicks the ball to canada by missing a 32 or 36 yd FG with about 20 secs left.

The season before he had a 21-7 lead in the 2nd half of a divisional round game at Pittsburgh only to have it fall apart and Ray Rice fumbled deep in thier own zone for the go-ahead Pitt score, only to rally them and have Aquan Boldin drop a TD pass in the 4th quarter and had to settle for a FG, then on the last offensive play, Flacco put a perfect pass to TJ Housmandzada on 4th and 16 only to have Housh let it hit him in the #'s and dropped it ended the potential GT rally, or GW rally with about a minute left in that game.

Flacco has come up his biggest in the Ravens biggest games in the postseason the last 3 postseasons. All he does is WIN... Isnt that what we want from our QBs?? #'s are nice BUT wins are the only thing that matters, and Joe Flacco has done that better then any QB in the last 5 seasons.

yeah he needs consitency from week to week for an entire season. he is second tier still. If he wins another super bowl then he may be put into that elite category.
