The Defense is NOT fixed ... IT. WILL. TAKE. TIME.

Yes. It will take time. But I really think that morale and attitude played a big part in the D's demise....along with DC quality. It's not a crazy idea to see the possibility of a strong new defensive-minded HC coming in here, making small adjustments and getting a 180 out this unit in terms of...everything.

Yes. And that goes to the point I just made in my previous post before yours. If what I have read in terms of a resounding endorsement of Gus from Monte Kiffin has any truth, then Gus may be just the guy to fix that problem faster than most.

a strong side LB and an overhaul in the secondary, we will be competitive. We could do all of that with a good draft
and a free agent signing or two. If we traded down twice in the first and took a big physical DT or DB somewhere in the 20s,
that would give us the ammo to fix many of our problems on D.

If he is any good we should see immediate improvement from the defense starting in the preseason. after all you cant fall off the floor.

I think it is a crazy idea.....Heart is manufactured within a person, not by a coach....and too many of these players have no heart. He's gonna have to cut 4-5 starters on defense right out of the gate....and as a fan, I'm fine with that.

Maybe you haven't noticed but there is not a SINGLE LB IN THE NFL THAT CAN COVER ANY TE OR RB.
None, zero, zilch, nada.

Not only that, whether Eagle fans want to admit it or not there are some very good players on that defensive unit. Obviously not enough.
But you give that unit an attitude adjustment, move players to their right positions (Allen to FS, keep Kendricks at WLB) and have a more aggressive scheme, which Bradley will do,,, and you are off to0 a good start.
Lets all keep in mind that these AREN'T the defenses of the past currently thrown around this league. So building to match the better units in this league isn't that tall of a task.
I say, yes they obviously need pieces. But they do have some good pieces in place.
RDE / Cole - do you really care that at such a young age he had a single down year last year ?? I don't. Now if he was 33-34 then I would care. He will be right back with the top DEs next year. Funny how every phase of his game got better after Mr 9 left.
LDE / Graham - did we see the real Graham last year ?? I say yes.
DT / Cox - any issues there ??
DT / Patterson, Landri, Thornton, Dixon - I know wonderful Eagle fans think that every position is supposed to be manned by All Pro players. But that's In Madden Football. NOT THE FRIGGEN NFL. All 4 of those guys are plenty good enough to compare with most teams #2,3,4 and 5th DTs.
MLB / Ryans - Not sure fans realized it,, but Ryans play last year was the best ALL AROUND play we have had at MLB since B.Evans.
WLB / Kendricks - Yes, nobody is sure about Kendricks and yes he had a terrible terrible terrible year last year. I am going to assume with him being in a more natural position and with better coaching he will flourish
SLB / Chaney - Listen, this could get upgraded for sure. But I will tell you that MOST teams are lucky to have 1 solid starting LB. I know Eagle fans want to look at the rare teams in the NFL that have 2 or 3 great LBs starting. But that is very very rare. With Ryans being one of the better MLBs in the league, and assuming Kendricks will step up. having just a serviceable SLB is not the end of the world.
RCB / ??? Obvious major issue
LCB / ??? Obvious major issue
SCB / Boykin - did he have a bad year last year ?? Obviously. But he also showed plenty of promise and I have no doubt he will be a very very good slot CB.
SS / ??? Obvious major need
FS / Allen - I will assume that the new DC will see the many good games Allen has played over his 3 years and understand that he is a natural FS not a dam SS.
Again. We absolutely need 3 starters. And 5 key reserves. Now will someone on the roster step up for any 8 of those positions ??
Obviously you would expect someone to.
Curry, Matthews, Marsh, Lindley, Hughs, DRC ?????
We shall see.
