We all know Roseman is an idiot and is no more qualified than the normal fan who has a good amount of draft knowledge, when it comes to building a team.

So the world is divided into two groups, things that required education and competence and things that don't? The key to ANY business is having discipline, precision, attention, carefulness, experience, education, wisdom, and common sense.
The only difference is that fools can play fantasy football but no one wastes time playing fantasy surgery.

No more qualified than the average fan? Roseman has been within the Eagles organization for over a decade, I'd say he's a little more qualified than yourself.

The reason these kinds of things rile taters up is it's a perfect storm-style attack on their entire self-concept.
Most are homers who don't have much of a football background, but think they know better than the people in charge and could be fantastic GM's if they were only given a shot or a couple years to learn the ropes. What future HOF member Polian indirectly did in their minds was:
1. Attack the Eagles (the homer trigger).
2. Suggest football experience is important to a career in evaluating football players (threat to their self-esteem).
3. Suggest he and those who have spent their entire lives playing, coaching, scouting, and working in football know more about football than they do.
It was like a tactical assault on their mind.

It was like a tactical assault on their mind.
1. It attacked Lurie's decision to let Roseman have the power and control that he has (which is not unlike the criticism coming from a good number of people on this board).
2. It suggested that football experience is an important factor in selecting the person who has the power and control of a GM (which is a threat to Roseman's self-esteem except that he doesn't care what people think about him).
3. It suggests, indirectly, perhaps why so many coaching candidates are showing up and then leaving.
It was like a strategic assault on the gold-standard best-coaching-job-in-the-league perspective.
