Peter King knows his football people like nobody else.

It's amazing how he can pick games wrong all the time knowing all he knows.

wouldnt be surprised. They went to him first. He fits all the criteria they wanted, Offensive guy, HC experience, energetic plus he has NFL experience. when they described their ideal candidate he was the guy. the dude just wasn't going to leave PSU after one season

He is right and I think other than the idiot Howie have no QB coming out in the draft such as a Andrew Luck or RG3 makes it more difficult to attract a proven coach here.

Yeah a lot of people like O'Brien. Don't know the context but that wouldn't be a surprise at all.

Dude, are you starting to take sane pills? This is like 10 straight posts you've hit the nail right on the head.

Have to agree 100-percent with Innocence here.

They spoke at lengths about leadership. Bill O'Brien showed it in spades at Penn State. He was dealt one hell of a hand and I have to say knowing what players on that team were saying off the record, he held onto a LOT of players who were saying they were leaving.

I give him a TON of credit. He used NO scare tactics either. NONE.

Also, look at what he did at Penn State this year. McGloin went from poor to solid. New WRs, very good results. Silas Redd out and my Maryland Bulldog is pounding it between the tackles in Zwinak.

I wouldn't be shocked if he was their top choice.

O'Brien number one, Chip two, Brian Kelly three. Pretty obvious.

Can I be a National reporter. Well of course O'Brien would be number 1 on their list along with the other 8 coaching openings. He decided to go back to Penn State right away. It wasn't the right time for him to leave.

If the truth serum revealed that O'Brien was their 1st choice, I would be impressed with their intent.  I think BOB will one day ascend into a great NFL coach, debunking the Bellicheck bad-disciple myth.

But for now, I'm happy if we end up with Bradley and hope he brings toughness, some great new assistants, and new power schemes to both sides of the ball.  God knows we've seen enough gimmicks and finesse play on offense and defense.

I'm sure their number one choice was to get Bill Belichick, unfortunately he was every bit as available as O'Brien is.

Face it, he wasn't leaving PSU.  Had nothing to do with Roseman, Foles, the 2013 draft, the fans, or anything else.  You can try to pin the blame somewhere, but he could have had all three Manning family members in the organization and he wasn't going to come over.

I'm glad he didn't I would have lost a lot of respect for him to one and done PSU like that...He gained a lot of respect by sticking with the organization and will one day get a shot at the NFL

It's not really a myth, right now it's a fact.

Held the program together as coaches from rival schools hung out in PSU parking lot. Was very close to a 10-2 season. Turned McGloin into a serviceable QB. Kept the core of his recruiting class together even though they may never play in a bowl game. Managed the HELL out of tough game situations. Has NFL experience with the best there is. Gets guys to play WAY above their talent level.
