Well here is what we call a General within college ranks. I will rate him a 2nd Lieutenant until he proves to be the leader the Eagles need. We Eagles fans welcome him aboard with high expectations. Still feel Jon Gruden was the sole answer but hey time will tell. With hardly any QB's in this years draft I hope we don't waste a top 1st round pick on one. Let Chip see what he can do with Mike Vick and the spread offense. Vick still has game.Let us keep in mind our O line was terrible this year. Without a solid O line any QB will fail.. To early to say if Chip Kelly has what it takes in Philly...But time will tell and hopefully he will mastermind us a superbowl victory we so desire. Do that for me and the rest of these bleeding green fans and you will earn the title General...

I won't be excited until I see the coaching staff he gathers. His records and stats in college will mean nothing in the NFL if the Eagles can't get 2 good safeties and 3 good corners on the field to protect the back end. I've never seen the Eagles get beat deep so often as they have in the 2012 season. Good luck Chip, and may the fans be with you.

The scary thing is Vick may stay BUT he may fit perfectly in this offense for at least two or three games before he gets hurt. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, go after Geno Smith!! My wife's family are all West Virginia fans and although he had success early, he does not have the mental pedigree to be a QB in this league. Once he found out that his running back was having an affair with his girlfriend, he stunk. Our team doesn't need a QB that is so easily distracted. DON'T DO IT!!!!

Bitter sweet... Would've LOVED Bradley... but Kelly is a great hire. He obviously used the idea of going back to Oregon as levrage within his contract. He's a business man.He get's what he wants. That's the kind of guy we need.

Hey Johnny333.  This ain't college buddy and first he turns down the job, commits to Oregon, then changes his mind, and then the hire gets leaked, yeah that's a joke noob.  Still, he'll get his chance.  Welcome to the EMB.

Johny. That gimmick offense won't work in the NFL and Kelly lost to Stanford for crying out loud. He can't win against good teams, or did you not watch Oregon vs LSU?  I don't care if he is 40-7 or w/e that doesn't mean a thing in the NFL. Btw with Vick eating up 1/10 of our cap room how do we get better on defense? Scoring high only helps if the other team doesn't score high too, this isn't madden get your head out of the sand.

With Chip as coach I think Geno Smith comes to Philly, IF not to Kansas City.

Kevkro, don't know why he turned down the job, initially.  Maybe it was part of the negotiating process for money or control.  I also don't know how or who leaked info--it could have been Oregon for all we know.  It seems that he let them know before they found out from the press, which is a stand-up move, in my opinion.  Oregon knew he was pretty interested in going to the NFL from the start.  They had already named his successor, in case he were to leave. None of the other colleges did that. I don't know the guy as a person, therefore I don't think it is appropriate to go assassinating his character based on incomplete facts and personal perceptions.

I still don't see negotiating as a joke.  Obviously, Lurie didn't either.  In the end, he got the one that the Eagles clearly seemed to be targeting all along--the only one who had a 9-hour first interview.

We want someone with fight to get what he wants--both Lurie and Kelly demonstrated that.  We need an innovator--particularly when our red-zone offense has really stunk the last bunch of years.  I don't care that we march up and down the field.  If we can't punch it in, it doesn't matter.

I'd love to see a strong DC come in to support him.  But, Washington, and some other teams, showed you can win with a questionable defense--as long as your offense can control the game.

Bradley might become a great HC somewhere.  Same with McCoy.  Time will also tell on them, as well--no guarantee that since they were good coordinators they will be good head coaches.  Plenty of carnage to support that theory.

I'm not sure that Vick is the answer going forward.  Foles may fit well into Kelly's plans or may not.  It will be interesting to see what happens.  I though Smith decided to stay another year, so I don't think that is an option to worry about.  I'd like to get a big receiver, but we need help on the defensive side of the ball--particularly at safety.  Haven't had a great one since they let BDawk go.

They are all 2nd lieutenants until they prove themselves in battle--whether they were brought up in the NFL or brought up from a college program.  The challenge is getting one on the upswing, not one past their prime.

Gruden would have been exciting--because of the personality; but he got that ring following a program Dungy put together and then they went downhill.  I, for one, am hoping that we are going to be getting better and better over time (at least for a good while).

Would love to have Bradley as DC, but don't think he's going to leave Seattle.  Also keep in mind that some teams have beaten his defense pretty badly.  Had RG3 not gotten hurt, the Redskins were running away with that game, then the Falcons came in and scorched that defense.   Even when the seahawks came back offensively, the defense couldn't hold the falcons for less than a minute.  Not sure I'd be jumping up and down demanding that Bradley, as HC, was what our defense needed.  It will be interesting to see who comes in as DC to support Kelly as HC.  I don't think it can be who we currently have, if we want to see a defensive change next year.

OUCH! Let's see. Did are the sanction rumors start to get serious. Time to run for the door. My one relief in this long drawn out process was when Kelly announced he was going back to school. This can't end well.

"Couldcareless," we'll see how it plays out.  Washington did pretty well without a strong defense this year--because of their strong offense.  In fact, they made some "strong defensive teams" look pretty silly.  Most of the best defenses are still giving up a fair amount of points.  I'd love to have a stingy defense, too, but if I have to go one direction or the other, I'd rather have the offensive output.  It makes a big differences in helping defenses look good as well.

If Kelly is who Lurie describes him to be, it won't be just gimmicks.  And, offensively, we have a lot of weapons that most teams only dream about.  We just need a guy who knows how to use them.  We'll get to see if Kelly is that guy or if he is set in his ways as Reid.  Time will tell.

Since you can't do anything about it, why not wait until he gives you a reason--on the NFL field--to complain.

To say that he can't win against someone good is just an embarrassment to you.  I won't even touch that.  That would be like saying that Saban wasn't a good coach because they got beat by Texas A&M or that Bradley stunk as a DC because his defense lost the game for Seattle or that McCoy was a bad OC because they lost their last game.  I mean really, think about what you are saying.

Agree w PhillyD4218, Def would love Bradley here as DC, I'd even take Lovie if he was willing to take it.  I def wanted Gruden here, Cowher was my second choice, then Bradley.  Never get what I want so I'm used to it, but I'm def willing to see what he can do.  Not a fan of this style offense, but I think Kelly will tweak it according to this teams strengths.  Also w this spread offense, opposite of what people think, will open up the run game more for shady and hopefully, a more stable BB.  I don't agree with Vick running this offense.  Besides being long in the tooth, he's owed too much money.  I think he 'll tweak this thing and have Foles skipper the offense, and have the RB's do thier job.  I don't care what you guys say, you all know your excited.  I know I am, Go Birds

Pats have one of the best offenses at scoring points and have lost in the play offs and superbowls because they couldn't keep the other team from scoring. High power offenses doesn't mean a thing against the defenses in the NFL. Will games be exciting? Sure. But nothing changes from what we had with Ried. I want a ring not some gimmick offense

Hard to believe as Eagles fans, but perhaps the Birds were the ones that applied the pressure and got the good deal with Kelly by making the move for Bradley.    Now just hope now they don't overpay for the Chief's draft choice.

Johnny, I wasn't on the Gus Bus and I don't want to go off bashing on Chip Kelly.  I don't have any problem with green but bleeding green is more important.  The guy was not my choice and I don't think his success is going to transfer over to the NFL, but he will get his chance.  I've been an Eagles fan before Chip and I'll be a fan after Chip so I am taking a wait and see approach at this time.

Without going into great detail, as it turns out, the media is the joke.  Amongst other things, I now know Mr. Lurie afforded Chip the opportunity to let his players know first and I respect that.  I also understand that Chip's scheme will be personnel driven.  Most importantly I notice a unique energy and chemistry between owner and coach, and Howie deserves praise for making this happen.  Now, "(The quarterback) and the coach are obviously the two most important things for any franchise".
