While there is a very small chance he got tricked and just inflated his long distance relationship with this 'girl' the more you think about it the harder that is to believe.

He knew the guy behind the fake account and the relationship went on for that long without him getting suspicious about never being able to see her in person or  even talk to her over the phone?

Still to be completely fair it sounds as if the guy behind the account went to some lengths to create this person and get pictures on an account that wasn't public or whatever.  Weird and definitely when combined with his performance in the Bowl game his draft stock has taken a serious hit.

Seems that not only is Manti and friend Tuiasasopo invloved, but several other family members, including the Arizona player. Unbelievable the depths people will go to for attention and money.

It definitely looks like he was in on it.

The only that may cast doubt was the bit where the friend got pictures of the girl that he was pretending to be.  I'm not really sure why he did that.  He either has horrible judgement as he is so easily duped or he did all this as a publicity stunt to get the Heisman either way though he's no longer a sure thing first round pick.

But see that's the thing, he said in an article that he met her and touched her. His father even posted somewhere (I read his statement yesterday) that Manti did meet this girl on numerous occasions.  I think he said she came to Hawaii to see him.
