Serious question. I'm not a Howie fan but if it works out I'll eat crow and give him his props. I actually hope to do that.

But you were crediting Howie with bold aggressive moves in 2010 & 11 and then later history was somehow revised and he wasn't responsible. Howie has that corporate move of getting credit for all that goes well and evading blame for anything that goes wrong.

Can you go on the record and say this was Howie's move so we can track it properly?

This definitely is a Howie move. Lurie makes the ultimate call.  But, GMs are the ones who research potential future coaches and try to sell owners on the guy they think would be best.

Dude, you're cracking me up. You hate Howie as much as I hate Reid. I agree with you on the history revision thing though, its funny how that happened. Just as funny as David touting Ray Rhodes as evidence of Lurie's coach hiring prowess on the last Eagles Live, I loved that. :P  But it is looking as though Howie made this happen, don't ya think?

The Rhodes thing cracks me up. He was fired after 4 years and Dave has said many times it was a disaster in year 4. That's a good hire?

In any case I do think it was Howie but I'd like him to say it. 2 years from now if things go badly I don't want to hear it was Lurie's guy and Howie just facilitated it and really wanted someone else. Sounds crazy but that's exactly what has happened with several moves from the last few years

Don't worry, Dave is taking voluminous notes on everyone at Novacare.

The way Lurie laid it out at his PC, there can be no more ambiguity about Roseman's responsibility for anything happening on the football side here.     I'm sure there will be plenty of questions tomorrow regarding how much power Kelly will have personnel-wise.

I can't wait for Spadaro to start taking his little veiled shots at the way Reid handled things the last several years here after saying earlier this season how he hoped he would be here "for many seasons to come".

Before we know it, it will be accepted that we should have probably made the change 3-5 years sooner.      Who woulda guessed?

I asked a question about the negative articles about Howie here a few days back. I'll admit it-- the negative articles rattled me a bit.

Not saying Howie is perfect. But this bought me a lot of confidence in him.

As soon as I saw the primary sources of the critical articles, it changed the way I felt about them.     It stuns me that a fan base lectured to by the likes of King et al for years about how out of line we were to question Reid being a lifetime appointmant could ever take a thing they say about anything regarding the Eagles seriously.      In the least.

My favorite thing about how this went down was how it caught all the national media blowhards flat footed with egg all over their faces.

Well done, Jeff and Howie.

Howie has always been able to get things done despite what the article said. The problem has been they've turned out to be mostly bad things which is why the team won 4 games. We have no idea if this will be any different yet.

It's a Jeffrey Lurie move that Howie and Don assisted in making happen.

I hope it works out and we aren't left with Gusenvy.

Does that mean Lurie gets fired if this doesn't work?

I heard Howie's radio interview with Mike Missanelli this afternoon.  Howie clearly said Jeff "slept on it" after the long Gus interview, and in the AM the nod went to Chip.  I'm so glad that's how it shook out and I'm stoked for Kelly being our coach.  After 14 years of Reid, I'm excited for the fresh start and new schemes on both sides of the ball.
