Star Lotulelei,  6'3" 320      Projected top 10 selection in the 2013 draft.

2012  Stats      5 sacks    25 Solo Tackles    41 total tackles

Started evey game.

Jesse Williams,  6'3"  320      Projected draft range 15-25.

2012 Stats    2 Sacks   23 Solo Tackles    37 total tackles    1 Blocked Field Goal.

Missed 2 games, minor injury.

22 Tackles in last 4 games

I know one thing, many plays are not at the middle or teeth of Bamas D......

Williams faced vastly superior SEC competition evey week.

If we were to go to a   3-4,    Is Star worth a top 10 pick......

What am I missing.....The more I read about Williams,  Post combine he climbs......????

Yes star is worth a top 5 pick let alone top 10. If we draft a nose tackle, probably would be John Jenkins in the 2nd as we take Jarvis jones in the first if they hire grantham. I think we could see a lot of bulldogs cuz I wouldn't mind taking rambo in the third either

If we switch to a 3-4, Star has to be the guy we need to target. He's Haloti Ngata 2.0.

I'd like to trade down to around 10 and grab either Jones or Jordan and get an additional 2nd round pick....then we could use our two 2nd round picks on a weapon on offense (ERTZ!!!!!) and a NT (Williams)

Jenkins and Hankins should also be in the discussion.

Alan Branch DT from Seattle is 6'6" 325 and played nose in Arizona very well

I'd still take Star at 4 too and put him at LDE where he is a little more free to make plays

Then maybe take a guy like Georgia's Kwame Geathers 6'6" 355lbs. in the 5th

Cox Branch Star would be beast

Would love jarvis jones but his spinal stenosis scares me away especially at 4

Sign Branch and draft Geathers in mid rounds.... done!!!

Now we got noses. Branch, Geathers, Dixon and Big Ceddy.

Patterson and Jenkins are gone and no to moving any of them to DE.. Who cares what Cullin did in Green Bay..

I'm also looking at Kwame Geathers from Georgia in mid rounds. At 6-6 350 plus he'll be our rotational NT along with Dixon and someone like Branch in free agency. Great thread, I hope we can keep all NT talk here..

That's exactly what I want, just with slightly different names.  I'd like to get into the low teens for Jordan/Mingo.  Jenkins is the NT I'd be interested in the top of the 2nd.  Patterson is the offensive weapon I'd want at WR.

Star is going to be a top NT, but I just don't think NT has top 5 value.  I agree that if you don't have an NT that can hold his own, a 3-4 will collapse.  HOWEVER, it's sort of a binary position.  You either accomplish that or you don't.  Even elite NT's don't spend much time in the backfield, don't blow up many plays.  They hold and occupy.  Star isn't the only guy in this draft who will do that.

I think a main target should be Alan Branch in free agency and then draft a guy like Brandon Williams NT out of Missouri State at the top of the 3rd. Some additions I would like to add..

Free Agency:
Alan Branch NT, Seattle
LaRon Landy S, NY Jets (if possible)
***Trade 2014 4th Round Pick to Baltimore for Tyrod Taylor QB

Draft:
1st Round - Luke Joeckel LT, Texas A&M
2nd Round - Xavier Rhodes CB, Florida State
3rd Round - Brandon Williams NT, Missouri State
4th Round - Corey Lemonier OLB, Auburn

I dont mind this at all. Branch can play the nose in the 3-4 and a guy like Landry is very valuable (when healthy, like he was this year...still tough to expect). We could fill 2 really big needs in FA. I like the first two picks alright...just kinda depends on who is there I suppose.

People who want Hankins....be careful what you wish for. The guy can be a force or flat out invisible...lazy as hell. Would love a guy like Williams or Jenkins to fall to the 2nd.

That's one. No I mean Vernon Gholtson, Aaron Maybin, etc. and there's more. Jared Odrick has underachieved and correct me of I'm wrong but Devon Still wasn't good this year. And he'll Brandon Graham. Although I admit its not fair on him, but most consider him a bust

Ryan Kerrigan, lamar woodley. My point is just scout the player, not the league. Good players come from everywhere

I wanted to add Adrian Clayborn who has been eh for a 1st rounder too. But yeah I'm an SEC fan and we have had our fair share of DL busts but man it seems like these Big 10 DL get sooooo much hype then just stall in the league.

James Lauranitis hasn't been too bad.  I agree w/ cmart.  People were crying for years about bad PSU linebacker busts...Navarro Bowman shut everyone up.   Scout the player as cmart said, not the league he plays in.  Miles Austin played at Monmouth...Marques Colston at Hofstra.

While I do normally agree the one thng the big 10 does is it normally puts out good o lineman like Wisconsin for example.  He ate up 2 olineman on every play which is what we will need.  I still don't want him much rather star or Williams but there 1st round picks.  Like others have said I'm very intrigued by branch while taking gaethers in the 4-5 range

The success rate for 1st round Dlinemen is really low everywhere, and SEC linemen get way more hype and just as many fail

Um no? I admitted SEC has had it's fair share of busts but the Big 10 seems to put out a good amount. Also if you read my post I said DL. Not LB not DBs not offensive players. So the topic of the busts was DL

But if you're just an SEC hater we can get into that all you want :)
