Dawkins was in town at Chickie & Pete's for the Philadelphia Sports Fan Choice Award.  Chip decided to stop by.

It would be epicly awesome to have Dawk as a secondary coach and have him come out of the tunnel like he did as a player

He's got the time. He's single so he has no obligation to a wife, so that's a plus.

Wow. He just won me over.

Not that I intensely dislike him, but I had some doubts.  This put me on the Kelly side of the fence.

Call me what you will.

wow 1st day on the job and he is meeting and greeting with the right people. the guy is not shy thats good.

i was thinking that this could be a tough situation for chip, with no family to lean on, making this big jimp basiclly by himself, that it would pretty tough for him. meeting all these new people for the 1st time, but he has seemed to hit the ground running. good stuff

I've been skeptical, and he takes a little reading between the lines, but I'm turning around. I never felt it was the worst move but I did question his character. He's certainly making the right moves in the early days here. Who knows, maybe he's just pathological, but he makes great efforts.

I like how he says he's requested permission already to put his staff together. I'm not sure what the guidelines are for interviewing college staff, but I don't think he needs permission. I never see it publicized anyway. So this leads me to believe he is looking at NFL caliber assistants and coordinators.

First Impressions count....and Chip is making a great one.  The jury is still out on the field, but as a person I like what I saw today during the press confrence and the interview with Spads.  But the video posted above put me over the top- awesome!   I might even buy a visor :)

As someone who has lived in Portland, Oregon for the last year and being from Philly and just being familiar with the Ducks - they are HUGE out here as they don't have a pro team. I can tell you Chip Kelly is a Philly type dude. You'll like his attitude. My issue with him was would his coaching style translate. Personality wise? What you see in the video and interviews is him. He'll joke around, and tell it like it is. He's kind of "fiery".

Time will tell about his coaching style. But his persona is all Philly.

Great first day for Chip.  Impressive that he made an impromptu appearance at that awards ceremony.  It would be great if there was spot for Dawk on the coaching staff.

I couldn't help but wonder the same.  Seems like a long shot though.  All the same its a smart and classy move to praise Dawkins and if next year's team plays with half the intensity of Dawk it should be a good season.

Don't look now but you have 8 months, 9 actually, before any meaningful Eagles football is played. The offseason usually goes pretty fast with everything going on though.

The Eagles have been a corpse with occasional criminal necrophilia involved since 2009.  Even if Chip Kelly falls flat on his face, this is SO MUCH BETTER, than another year of hearing the same BS from a coach who ran out of ideas when his family problems started.  Reid is a great motivator, players love him, but he can't think quickly during a game.   KC may embrace Reid because he may get them to the playoffs.  After that.....
