Maybe its not Assistant GM, but GM's assistant

Ya. Calling him Assistant GM makes it sound Kelly would want this guy doing Roseman's job soon enough. Doesn't sound like his role is anything like that of a GM.

Nepotism? Bringing in somebody you used to work with that you feel is an asset is not nepotism. It's in fact smart and it's done all the time by successful leaders.

Thank you!
He's also a bright young guy who the Eagles will try to mold into an up and coming executive.
Seems like a good move to me.

Not directed at you, specifically...  Just some people around here act like the sky is constantly falling.

Actually,  I think that it's good for Chip to bring in people that he knows and feels comfortable with.

FYI, I am told that those reports from Oregon are wrong about James Harris having the title of assistant general manager with the Eagles.

Yeah his title shouldn't be assistant GM because that suggests some kind of player selection.  He sounds more like part of the training staff or something slightly higher up since it sounds like he'll be part of the creating the team culture by acting as a kind of life coach to the players.  Its really not a bad idea.  A lot of these guys get in trouble with this kind of stuff but with a guy on staff helping them out it could cut down on distractions.  Also just sounds like a classy thing for the team to do by being there for their players.

Harold Carmichael does some of that now but this guy is younger obviously and can relate on a different level. Also sounds like he's definitely into the nutrition of the high octane O too.

Sounds like a combination of Morgan Freeman's character in Shawshank Redemption and the Waterboy.

Very possible. There was probably something that was the turning point to make Chip change his mind. What I think happened is Bradley wanted to go on to Jacksonville and the Eagles wanted to finalize the coaching process.  They didn't want the negative press of Bradley leaving, which would be embarrassing. So, they called Chip back and said...okay we will agree to what you wanted (more money and/or someone that will have a say in personnel matters...not just Howie).  I just don't believe the story that Chip simply changed his mind after a week. I think the Eagles gave some more concessions to make it happen.

I agree that Lurie probably made some kind of concession to Kelly to get him to change his mind but I'm thinking it had more to do with Banner and that La Canfora story. I mean alls quiet, they're interviewing people, then this story comes out and boom the next day or whatever Chip Kelly comes out of left field and becomes HC. That, and Mosher said earlier Harris isn't going to be in a personnel decision capacity. Just my thinking, though.

Kelly has a trusted personel man in upper management who will "work" with Roseman.  Kelly just wants to coach, what a concept vs. 14 years (err pre 2009) of meglomania.

The Chip Kelly deal was in the final stages before Gus Bradley landed in Philadelphia.  Lurie picked his brain long enough to make sure Kelly was his guy.  Chip Kelly could be the next Steve Spurrier, and Gus Bradley could be the next Jack Del Rio.  OR....

Any future head coach drops a Cortez ("The Killer") reference during his first PC has my attention.
