If first impressions mean anything, then Chip Kelly's "It" factor is going to be a powerful tool in a city that lives for the every move made by the Philadelphia Eagles ...

3D....I think are D played there best game the week we honored Dawkins retirment vs the Giants so that shows the impact he can have even if he isn't out there playing.

Tell you one thing I like about my initial impression of this guy - he is excited not only to be an NFL coach, but seems genuinely excited to be an Eagle. That's huge.

Dawk is heart and soul...he put it all out on the field.

BleedingGreen93,

Agreed, I think Dawk would be a great coach! His passion for the game would really help get the most out of each player.

I think Chip Kelly is doing all the right things so far and I for one am excited to have him. Let's start establishing a coaching staff.

>>Spuds: what does anyone reasonably expect? Sheesh. Kelly is doing what any new HC would do. You are making it sound like he swam naked across the Delaware in a snow storm before breakfast. Get a grip.

Folks have an expectation that he will assemble a decent staff of assistants. Eagles PR will make them sound like each has a PhD is astrophysics, economics and mathematics/statistics( can't leave out the statistics & bean counting).

Truth be told ( which Eagles rarely do voluntarily). EVERYONE IS NERVOUS about Chip Kelly and how it will work out.

Truth be told, Eagles have organizational issues which go deeper than Andy Reid and his staff of assistants--so Chip Kelly is a welcome diversion. Absolutely no denying that Roseman took a lot of flak in recent weeks. I don't expect that it was orchestrated by Banner, but, I might give Banner credit for making a run at Chip Kelly because he'd know how fond Howie & Jeffrey were of him..even if he never meant to hire him.

>>Kmarcelli: agreement here. Lets see who steps aboard as his assistant coaches. We do not need any "Dana Bible" types form the collegiate ranks. I think Chip needs to make some sound and re-assuring choices on assistants. Until we see his team play, many fans fear that GIMMICK U is alive and well at Nova Care.

Dawk would coach out safeties up good, even being retired he is more then likely still better then what we have now. They are so soft and bite on every play action it drives me crazy.

>>CCL: reality check. Former Player MICHAEL ZORDICH was the safeties coach under Andy Reid and his DCs. Zordich was a reasonable successful NFL player. Can't help but wonder if you can't coach stupid. Colt Anderson was the best effort player out there. The recent draft choices were bombs. Is is coaching or drafting?

My how fast the Eagle faithful change their opinion. Ha. Ha. I'm with jwood on this one. Chip Kelly is a big question mark right now. And there are a lot more issues beyond the Head Coach here. At least MM is gone. And Todd Bowles for that matter. I wish them well.....kind of. Chip better find a STANDOUT DC. He's going to need it. The D will be on the field a LOT.

jwood, coaching can change how a player performs by a lot. Look at DRC, he went from being a ball hawking pro bowl CB for the Cards. than is traded to us and was playing 50/50. Also Nnamdi (even though he wasnt used right) also saw his talent level drop dramaticaly. I'm not saying Dawks cold make them all pro safeties but he has the exp and knowlidge on how to be a strong sound safety and to just do your job.

19eagle....Jerry Azzinaro is the only guy who Kelly has hired and he will be are DL coach. Greg Austin, Matthew Harper and Todd Lyght are also supposedly to be coming to Philadelphia, but none have had their roles publicly defined yet. They are all from his Oregon staff.
