another Falcon fan on here. That was a horrible loss. I rather wish we lost something like 35-0 instead of having our hearts ripped out like they did to us. I mean we blow a 17-0 lead AT HOME IN THE NFCCG! Please fire mike smith now. Im also starting to wonder about matt ryan if he can win the big game. He got lucky and beat seattle IMO. Hes now 1-4 in his playoff career
Um, no, Mike Smith just won his 3rd Coach of the Year in 5 seasons.

lol, that was pretty good. Still has more Coach of the Year honors than any other coach in the league and is one short of tying Don Shula with 4.

The Atlanta defense gameplanned horribly for that 49ers spread option.  It's a shame, but I, like the rest of us, just knew this was coming at some point.

For the most part the Falcons defense kept Kaepernick from running all over them like he did the week before with over 160yds against the Packers

so what?

Its about titles. Andy Reid was a great regular season coach (besides the last 2 years) but he was fired b/c of no SBwins. This is the 2nd time in 3 years that he had the #1 seed and blew it. This one is even worse by blowing a 17-0 lead at home against a QB that had only played in about 8 or 9 NFL games.

Mike Smith is headed down the road of becoming a norv turner IMO

HAHA, I dont think Reno Mahe could have run for 160yds vs a high school defense!

Yes and no. We ahvent had a 5year span of winning like Mike Smith has had since he was hired. We were a hapless team after the Vick mess and our HC decided to walk out with a few games left in the season. Mike and Matt have turned us into a stable and winning franchise.

BUT on the other hand youre right about the playoff chokes. In Matts rookie year he lost to the Cardinals, missed the playoffs in year #2, year #3 we had the #1 seed and the Packers came here and beat us, year #4 we had to go on the rod and got blasted by the Giants 24-2, then there is this season. We again had the #1 seed. We barley beat the Seahawks after blowing a huge lead in the divisional round, and then we did blow a 17-0 lead to the 49ers in the confrence title game.

Matt and Mike are 1-4 in thier playoff careers. Thats not good espically when you look at what Joe Flacco and harbaugh has done in Baltimore over the same 5yr span. Im torn on wether he should be fired or not. I dont know who is out there right now that would do a better job then Smith... Maybe Gruden??? I will bet you for sure if they have another season like this year where we run away with the division and have another #1 seed and dont get to the SuperBowl, Arthur Blank has to fire him IM O.

Lay into me. Though I will say, 4th and 5, that should have been a PI call and I'm still not sure why Roddy White was on the ground on that interception because Fox opted not to show the full replay.

Give him two more years. If he hasn't reach a SB with that team then it is time to move on.

I will not concede that Ryan choked. Ryan was amazing in this game, in my opinion. The interception, like I said, looked like a timing route and Roddy ended up on the ground. The fumble is all him though, but that happens to everyone. So questionable calls on both sides, the roughing the passer hurt a **** ton on third down, it's the rule, I get it, it's just a bad rule. And Roddy was obviously wearing Bowman as a cape on that 4th down. I'm assuming Ryan saw it and tried to draw the flag. Questionable call on HD's catch, but like Mike P. said, it was the only call you could make with the evidence, though I'm surprised they made it.

Had this been a regular season game, a flag would have probably been thrown on that 4th down play. During the playoffs, the refs typically let the players decide the
outcome a little bit more. That's not always the case, but as a general rule they usually do. ie, During the NFC Div. playoffs last year between the Saints and Niners
last year, only 3 flags were thrown the entire game. There were only 3 flags thrown in the Ravens vs Texans game on the same weekend also. Imo, offenses have
enough rules in their favor already. I believe it's only fair to let defenses play a little bit. I know the play in question was close, but it's not like Bowman pushed White
to the ground before he slapped the ball away.

I believe the Falcons loss to SF and the near loss to Seattle was due to one simple thing. It was the Falcons inability to run the ball consistently after building
their lead. Turner can break off a big run every now and then, but he's a shell of the runner he was 2-3 years ago. Rogers is a nice change of pace back, but
He's not the type of back you can run 20+ times a game in order to eat clock with either. Imo, Rb should be a high priority for the Falcons in the draft or FA.

Agreed, Turner will be gone but our interior line doesn't open holes like they did a few years ago either after losing Harvey Dahl. I miss Harvey Dahl. I agree also that the offense has too many rules in their favor but the rules are in place, they should be enforced or changed.

No, in fact rumors started last week that Blank was considering moving to LA, but he denied the rumors. State doesn't want to contribute as much as the Falcons would like. I don't think a new stadium is needed, if the Superdome can still host a Superbowl (sure, the power won't stay on) after being built in 75 and going through a natural disaster, doesn't seem to be necessary to me.
