The singing of Chip Kelly was a pleasant surprise.  At least we know he can run a balanced attack on offense, manage the clock, take time outs when needed, and run the 2 minute drill. On defense we will have to wait and see how he picks the DC but I see him sticking to the 4/3 that  we have not the 3/4 he had at Oregon.
Off season moves START WITH CLEARING OUT SOME DEAD SPACE HOGS!!! Cap space as it sits now per eaglescap.com is singings -18,120,825 under the cap before cuts.

Cuts
Demetress Bell  $9,600,000
Jason Babin $3,845,000   $600,000 against the cap
Nnamdi Asamugah $11,000,000   $4,000,000 against the cap
Michael Vick $10,700,000  $7,200,000 against the cap

That gives us $53,265,825 of projected cap space?

Signings
Jairus Byrd FS Give him 5.6 for 5yrs $28,000,000
Connor Barwin SLB/DE Give him 4.2 4yrs $16,800,000
Jared Cook TE   Give him 3.4 4yrs $13,600,000
Matt More QB  Give him 850,000 3yrs $2,550,000

Read the first few sentences and laughed to myself...
We all know everybody will eventually find faults with Chip n cry n moan about it on here every 10 minutes so why even start the we know he will coach the game perfectly nonsense?

The mock offseason/draft part in the post isn't bad though.

I am not sure about your cap calculation, but I like this off season.

Rhodes will go in the first, so switch him and Jones.

I would not take Jordan with the first pick, see below.

I like it but...
I highly doubt Byrd isn't tagged or resigned, but we should add a safety in FA.
I'd love to trade back but really don't see it as an option anymore, who would the Rams want to trade up for so badly?
I'm not a fan of Jordan would take Elam or a DT with that pick. The rest looks good.

Why does everyone think that the Rams want to trade their 2 first round picks?

If i am a Rams fan i am loving 2 first round picks toward the back end. The talent is not a big drop, very even throughout

I could see the Rams wanting Joeckel if he slips to 4.  They need to protect Bradford better.  He is probably one of the few prospects worthy of that kind of a trade up in this year's draft.

Joeckel will not get past number 1 with Reid picking and if he did I think it's a no brainer for us to take him

If the Rams were a player away from the playoffs I'd see them trading up, but they're in the same boat at us (many needs). They traded for those picks for a reason, not to just give them up. In the next two drafts the rams with have 4 1st rounders, that's awesome for their franchise. Very rare.

Cook Jr is inconsistent, why not draft a late rounder at TE and pay him very little.

I'm not sure what makes this mock any different than some others on here. No one wants to be original anymore? Or these plays are are fire locks for the eagles? Sheesh.

Like the GoEagles said, the Rams are not a player away from the playoffs. A good example is the Falcons...they traded up for 6 to get Julio Jones upgraded that offense immdediately.

The Rams have no desire to trade those 2 luxurious picks

I agree it's unlikely that the rams would do that deal. It's absolutely stupid for them. That being said,  a trade down is very possible.

I could see the bills, jets and cards all wanting to draft a QB and a trade is quite possible for that reason. Id gladly trade down for a 1st and a 2nd and in that scenario keeping a top 10 pick still.

I think that your mock leaves us extremely thin at CB. You'd have to re-sign drc as he's not under contract. I agree with that re-sign but I think with a top 10 pick and 2 more in the top 42(or so).

Targeting milliner, Justin hunter and Matt Elam at those pics could go a long way

I like your signings of barwin and Byrd but doubt either one makes it to FA.

Of course until we know for sure if we're going to be a 4-3 or a 3-4 targeting in the draft is impossible

I don't understand all these mock drafts with us trading our pick for Rams two picks.  Why would the Rams do this when they need just as much if not MORE help than the Eagles do?  This is just stupid...

I am sorry but I don't think Joeckel is or can be better than Jason Peters so there's no way I draft a RT in the top 5.

Cap space as it sits now per eaglescap.com is singings -18,120,825 under the cap before cuts.

Actually it's currently $16,183,949, but that's not the problem.  We are OVER the cap by that much, not under.

http://eaglescap.com/current.html

Cap Projection: $121,000,000
Contracts: ($135,783,,578)
Dead Money: ($1,400,371)
Over ($16,183,949)

However, NFL teams have until Feb 28th to turn in the carry forward total they wish to use form the past season.  We don't know what that amount is yet.  Last calculation  that I saw for 2012 we were $21m under the cap.  Assume they can/will carry it all (and it was $21m) then we're $5m under .  With your cuts we'd pick up another $35m(thinking we already realized the Babin savings in the $135m).  So somewhere south of $40m under????  Total back of the napkin here.

Here's the article on the carry over:

http://profootballta...-automatically/

Quote

Under Article 13, Section 6(b)(v) of the CBA, each team may carry over any remaining cap room from one year to the next by submitting written notice, signed by the owner of the team, to the league office no later than 14 days before the start of the next league year.  The written notice must indicate the maximum amount of cap room that the team wishes to shift from one cap year to the next.

Who's Rodgers that you have listed with the WRs?

I'm guessing Da'Rick, but that would be odd, since he doesn't have us drafting him.

Maybe Charles is coming out of retirement?
