Please don't turn this into another Vick vs. Foles thread ... there are plenty of those already.  For the record, I am in favor of moving on from Vick but I acknowledge that there is at least the possibility, with Chip Kelly now here, that he restructures and stays.

So, my question here is ... assuming that Kelly decides that he can work with Vick, what do you think would be an appropriate pay reduction for him?  What is a reasonable salary for a starting QB with his history?  One that works for both Vick and the Eagles cap-wise.

He shouldn't get starting QB money. He should get 3 mil. And that's generous.

hard to say, mainly because there is gonna be teams out there that will want vick and we be willing to pay him. he will be one of the hottest FA on the market. just wait and see. anybody who says differently hasnt watched the crap thats at qb around the league on alot of teams plus teams also saw the beating that vick has been subjected to over the last 2 season and will think they can do better

If it's decided that he's the projected starter, then $9-10 million is appropriate. (But I don't think he should be the projected starter.)

I don't either but isn't that the problem?  You kind of have to decide whether or not he is the starter because he's not going to restructure at a backup salary.  Everyone keeps saying restructure him & then have an open competition but it's not quite that simple.  Paying someone $9-10 million to sit on the bench, if he loses the competition, is a huge waste of salary cap.  I know that the Seahawks did it with Wilson/Flynn this year but it's pretty unusual not to mention can create tension on the team.

I suppose that the Eagles could pay the $3 million bonus in February and then squat on him for awhile, releasing him before the season started if they felt he wasn't going to be the starter ... but that doesn't seem to be a good message to send to the team either.

150% pay cut. He should get nothing and have to pay half of what he would have made in order to stay on the team.

Wow....just wow.....that's all I can say about this

Are you freaking serious?  Why in the world do you think Vick fits Chip Kelly's system?  Let me guess because he can run.  Do you happen to notice he is slower and gets hurt almost every time he runs?  Have you noticed that Chip Kelly has said 500 times that his offense doesn't need a mobile QB?  Do you notice there are hundreds of backup and practice squad mobile QB who can run the offense better than Vick?

Vick is too dumb to run a fast tempo offense.  He's too dumb to run any NFL offense.

THE MAN HAD MORE TURNOVERS THAN TD THE LAST TWO SEASONS!!!  WHY DO YOU IDIOTS STILL THINK THE EAGLES EVEN WANT HIM?  To answer your question, I would assume that he would have to pay the Eagles to be on this team next year!

Seriously, does anything productive go on in your brains?  I am proud to be an Eagles fan but I acknowledge, Eagles have the most morons as fans that I have ever seen!!

I think I'd pay him the league veteran Minimum to be the Back up QB.... since he will only continue to regress from here.

Otherwise I am drafting one to bring along, Edwards and or Foles or another F/A can esily be the back up.

VICK is DONE as a starter

Umm, if you actually read what I posted, I said that I didn't want Vick here.   But you have to at least acknowledge the possibility that Kelly/the Eagles may decide otherwise.

So, my question is, assuming that is the case, what do you do with him (because everyone knows that he's not getting his full salary here or anywhere)?

one thing is for certain neither vick nor alex smith is gonna agree to come in here and compete and possibly sit behind foles. no way its not happening when they know they can go elsewhere and start. they will have to decide if they want foles to start or not and if they want competition it would have to be with a rookie or another benchwarmer going against foles

There are no other QBs really available... I'd say Smith will be the top guy as a trade option, then probably Flynn. Vick is most likely the top FA Qb available, so he will get attention. That said, he needs to have at least $12 million shaved off of that contract, probably $14 or $15 million.

Vick won't be on this team, or any other NFL team next season so it doesn't matter. Stick a fork in him, he's done.

He should get nothing, have to give back his entire 2010-2011 salary, and then pay for all 70,000 tickets x8 home games to recoup the losses from every sane fan selling their tickets if he's on the roster.

Lets wait and see who all COMES available at F/A time. Smith is still under contract BTW same with Flynn....

Vick is 33 and his talent is declining. The MEDIA believes Vick has value.... I dont think the league does.

There will be a team somewhere, without a viable QB option this year, who needs to sell some tix's that will take a one year flyer on Vick.... but it wont be a fight amongst more than possibly two cellar dweller teams...

They gave Vince Young 5 mill for a back up role. I would be fine with that

That would be why I said as a trade option. Vick is probably the third most interesting guy at QB position and there are a few teams that will be in need of one. I suppose it's possible that the Bills get Smith and then Fitzpatrick moves in front of Vick as well. It is too early to tell, but at the moment it looks as though Vick will be the top FA.

That was in hopes he could be transformed the Andy Ried way so we could then trade him and get a 2nd or 3rd rounder... obviously that didn't work out

Somewhere in the neighborhood of $5M per yr... Not sure if he'd be on board with it but that's probably at or just below his market value.

Garci signed for $1 mil as a back up - I would say 2.5 to 3 mil is reasonable

I heard there was a spot available at the Waterboy position.....

From what I hear he will essentially become the highest paid Waterboy in the NFL....

His clipboard skill will improve in time and he may even make the move up to official back up QB somewhere.....

Nothing.  Unless Chip Kelly believes Vick is his QB for the next 3-4 years, then I say cut him loose.  I highly doubt anyone thinks he's got 3-4 years left in him.  As Chip has stated...he doesn't need a mobile QB...he needs a fast thinker that can make the throws.   As long as Foles can keep the pace of the playcalling and snaps going...just get the ball into the hands of the playmakers.  That's what they do in New England....and they don't have half the talent at WR and RB that we do.

If you're calling other NFL starting QB garbage, what do you call Vick?  I think there are at least 10 NFL backups better than him.
