I was thinking about the QB's in the draft, and every year someone reaches for a QB. Look at last year for example, no one had Russel Wilson ranked very high, and look how good he did. Even before the combine RG3 wasn't rated as high as he ended up. If you believe that the QB you want will be your franchise QB for the next 10+ years you should draft him above anyone that you might think will draft him. I think that if Nassib, Smith, Barkley, etc is what Chip wants, you go and get him.

Just to overview:

-If you like a certain QB draft him before somebody else does.

Thanks for that.

Depends on what Chip is going to "require" out of his QB.  If he is definitely wants/needs mobility out of his QB, then he needs to draft one.  If mobility isn't a need, then don't waste a pick.  Go with Foles.

My opinion on drafting a QB....

The crop this year sucks, the Eagles have to many holes to fill, ride with Foles this year and see how the 2014 crop shakes out.

I read what I typed and it was worded a little weird. I meant if you need a certain position then you reach for it, now matter what people might say. With that said we have a lot of needs.

That philosophy has gotten MANY GMs and HCs fired.  You don't see the Packers, Patriots, Ravens or Giants reaching for any player at any position.  Those teams are in the hunt every year.  Do teams reach and get lucky from time to time?  Absolutely.  But making that philosophy a habit will doom a franchise.

The way I see it, if there were any QB's to die for then we would be hearing about it. The QB crop for 2013 is RISKY, will there be some QB's that maybe do what Andy Dalton has done, or Kaepernick? Yea maybe but I am not willing to take that risk this year, only because we spent a third rounder on Foles last year that could end up being just a back-up like Kafka. I am not saying that the third rounder spent on Foles was bad but now a days in the draft a lot of good defensive and offensive prospects are coming from the 3rd round, if you scout correctly.

We cannot afford to waste draft picks this year with our defense having so many holes, especially with possibly transitioning to a 3-4. I am not so sure I would like to see any draft pick spent on a QB given the fact that the 2014 draft is looking better for QB's. Just my thought.

I hope for Kelly and Roseman to attack this draft just like we did in 2012, fill some holes and pick the positions that are in need. Do not try to reach for a guy when they can be had elsewhere, this team has had its fair share of expectations for "sketchy" draft picks.

Just draft smart with the picks that we have and most importantly do our homework on potential picks. I am tired of seeing other teams finding 2nd round talent in the 3rd-4th rounds and then when we draft players in the later rounds they become PS players.

the Eagles over the years have done exactly that. they would reach for players that they needed in rounds where that play should not have even been drafted.  that philosophy has gotten our roster in the shape it is now. last years approach of the BPA was great and imo was the best draft this team has had in a sense of finding a good combination of starters and depth. the BPA approach should be used but that doesn't mean you have to stick with it. there really is so many holes on this team that the BPA will most likely be a need anyways.

Well i tell you this much, this class may not be impressive, but neither are the QB's on our current roster. Something has to give.

Tyler wilson will be a sleeper though, i guarantee too. Strong arm, pocket passer who can throw on the run, i think a good fit, well deserving of at least a shot

I like Tyler Bray as a late round draft pick think he's got a good arm. But not for the Eagles.

Based on what people say Kelly prefers I would say EJ Manuel or Colin Klein late rounds would be good gambles......

Yea but I would have a better feeling knowing that a later draft pick is showing progression in camp or mid-season versus a late round QB draft pick that gets put #3 on the QB depth chart because he did not show any flashes in camp or OTA's.

If there is a guy still on the board in the 3rd/4th round I say, "Go for it."  Otherwise, I'd wait until next year.  (Geno Smith, Tyler Wilson and Mike Glennon will probably be off the board in round 2.  I would never take them with the 4th pick.)

Colin Klein would come in and have one of the 10 worst arms int eh NFL. His best chance at being a pro is to become a WR or TE

We will, but it'll be a mid-to-late round developmental type.

Roseman said they've drafted versatile players like mychal Kendricks and fletcher cox who can play in 3-4 scheme.

Just spoke with Howie Roseman. He didn't say it directly but made a lot of references to 3-4 defense.

Fla State QB EJ Manuel says he met with Chip Kelly last night, had a great conversation.

Geoff Mosher@GeoffMosherCSN
Manuel said Kelly recruited him to Oregon and he wanted to go but is from Va. and Oregon was too far.

Geoff Mosher@GeoffMosherCSN
Manuel says he knows exactly what Kelly wants to do in the NFL and fits it perfectly.

interesting maybe we draft ej manuel ?

It sure seems like the Eagles are considering drafting a QB. Reports out of Bama are that Chip Kelly and Howie Roseman met with Ryan Nassib (I'd be ok with that, even at #4), Tyler Wilson (2nd rounder maybe?), and EJ Manuel (please God no, under any circumstance!). It might be a head fake, throw teams off. But it sure seems like they are doing their due diligence.
