You only bring up vick, mcnabb and cunningham because these Qbs are black....watch these guys play they are more polished than any of those qbs you mentioned.... stop judging them based on the qbs you have had in the past......yes pocket passers have won in the past but things are changing...there is no manning, brady, rodgers in the superbowl....just an average joe and a dual threat qb named kaepernick....
Has nothing to do with race. At the end of his career, Cunningham had to learn to be a pocket passer and managed to have a good season with the Vikings. McNabb broke his leg and threw 4 TDs with it wrapped up standing like a statue. Then he had to change his game to not run as much. Big Ben utilizes the run to elude the pass rush. He's a big dude but even he has suffered hits. Guys like Brees, Brady, Mannings, they stand in the pocket and get rid of the ball so they don't get hit. Running QBs get hit more, it's a fact. And the more you get hit, the more likely you are to get injured.
This year is the first in a long time there will not be one of the "elite" QBs in the Superbowl. If Kap wins it will be a first for this type of QB. Amazing since he didn't even start the whole season. Like I said, things are changing and this new breed of QB could be the future, but coaches need to design plays and teach these QBs in ways that get them to slide instead of run for the extra 3 yards and take a big hit, and get rid of the ball instead of trying to force a throw to make a big play and end up throwing an interception. They have to protect these QBs because traditionally running QBs take a pounding and don't last as many seasons.
