New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness in Sunday's AFC Championship Game, a source informed of the fine told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport on Wednesday.
The infraction came in the second quarter of the Patriots' 28-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens when Brady scrambled, then slid with his leg up as Ravens safety Ed Reed approached. Brady's foot hit Reed in the thigh, even though he tried to jump over the quarterback.
Reed's teammate, Bernard Pollard, called out Brady after the game, calling the kick "bullcrap." Brady later apologized to Reed in a text message.
