dee milliner cons are said to be he only started one year, didnt back peddle at alabama in coverage, and thows his body instead of wrapping up for a tackle.   he is said to be a pick where they think teams would take him just because they dont want other teams to have him, so thats a good sign. he was ranked on site as 6th best player in draft

Dub, I read your thoughts about drafting OL with #4.  My thought is I don't care what position as long as its a stud something! BTW, 8 OTs in the probowl... 6 were first rounders with a couple of top 10 picks, so not necessarily a bad move.  Seems like only Jockel is worthy of that high of a pick from what I have read.  Then it seems this Star kid at DT, and the CB from Alabama... otherwise it looks like a ton of DE/ OLB types are considered to be the top tier talent.  While safety is easily the biggest need, or you can word it as our worst position... I don't think it's smart to draft by need when you need to climb past 28 teams to win a Superbowl.  Just get the best player.  IMO, over the years we have drafted too much DL because the Eagles obviously put mre of a premium on that position (which I do agree with) however, where I differ is that I would rank a stud LB higher than a good DL, or a good LB higer than a decent DL.  i'm not sure the Eagles have done the same over the years and the result has been our current group of ZERO probowlers... anywhere!

The Eagles cap situation... which is relevant when considering who to trade.

Player                              2013 salary        Cost if cut or traded

Mike Vick                      $16.9 mil                   $4.2 mil
D Bell                                9.6 mil                      0
Nnamdi                            15.3 mil                    4 mil
Patterson                          4.064 mil                   0
Jenkins                             5.5                           1.5
Jason Peters                    10.75 mil                   0
Demeco Ryans                   6.7 mil                     0
DeSean                              9 mil                       12 mil
Danny Watkins                 2.171 mil                   2.15 mil
Nate Allen                         1.23 mil                    600k
Shady                                4.95 mil                    9.8 mil
Trent Cole                        5.35 mil                     6.4 mil

Can't trade Shady, DeSean or Cole unless you want to take a bigger cap hit.  Seems like Bell & Vick will be gone for sure.  I think Nnamdi unless he restructures.  Patterson is probably cut, then possibility or coming back for less.  Jenkins I'm 50/50 about.  Peters and Ryans have too big of a cap hit, Ryans probably restructures for long term security and Peters may not a choice and have to do the same?

joemas...AR habitually ignored the LB position during his tenure.  We could've drafted studs...I wanted Posluzny when he was coming out of the draft, or that MLB from Ohio State that same year...forget who he is now.  No....we grab guys like Casey Matthews, or bring back an older Trotter from the Skins, etc. to try and "plug" the roster with mediocrity

Disgusting

Great Data.
Wow. Detress Bell was a huge "miss" in terms of scouting and decision making. Hope that cost Howie his bonus.
Fatt Patt is a goner
Vick is a goner.
Djax's money is another mistake by an inexperienced capologist / personnel guru. At least the injury policy coverged some of the wasted dough

i think we keep peters, man if we could get joekel to understudy for 1 season, i think we should get him....we were in desperation mode when we scrambled to sign that oaf bell....he's gotta go.  watkins they might hang onto and see if he shows any signs of life.

I'm calling for the following heads:

Nnamdi, Vick, Bell, Allen, Patterson, Jenkins

that oughta trim the fat pretty much right there

and don't forget coleman....i think he doesn't make the 53 this season

Joe...where does it say that trading Djax would cost 12mil it just says dead $ if cut on the site you posted....If you trade a player generally the team that trades for him takes over the contract....

>>Jhop: OL seems to be a strong point of this years draft.  Eric Fisher is a name that keeps coming up as a guy who can play most spots on the OL...either tackle and guard.

You in favor of letting Training Camp sort out Danny Watkins? Maybe Roseman can trade him to KC with DJax

I'd keep Jenkins and see if Phillip Hunt, Derek Landri and Darryl Tap can keep their jobs in camp

jwood. With KC's OT's and the fact that andy is drafting first, he will take joeckle. Our best bet could be milliner, as joeckle has less than a 0% chance of still being on the board

If Eagles switch to a 3-4:
1st pick - Jarvis Jones
2nd Pick - John Jenkins
free agent signing - Jarius Byrd

What's wrong with this allignment?

                      C Jenkins (305 lb)   J Jenkins (358)    F Cox (300)
Backups:     C Thorton (309)       A Dixon (325)        M Patterson (300)

J Jones (241)            D Ryans (247)             M Kendricks (239)         B Graham (265)
Backups:    T Cole (270)                 V Curry (266)                  P Hunt (244)

3rd round pick?             N Allen                             Jarius Byrd                      Asomugha or DRC (keep one)
Free agent?
Promote Boykins?
Trade Trent Cole for someone?

I think some of these guys may do better with a new fire under their butts so I'm not ready to unload all.  I feel most of these guys can fit the switch to a 3-4.  If they don't, ala maybe T Cole, trade bait for another need?

wood, not in favor of watkins, if he's a bust he's a bust, but he could ve a viable starter in this league.  Not expecting greatness from him, but if the cap hit is basically the same as keeping him...that's why I say they might wait and see what Watkins brings this year under new coaching....plus losing our o-linemen this past year was HUGE, and I think we'll try and keep around as many as we can

The Harbaugh brothers have shown that an elite qb is not a must to get to the superbowl. We have the tools to have an elite running game, especially if Chip pushes the tempo. We have a talented defense. We need fire and heart! Hard hitting safeties will help with that. I say we draft Oline or Dline first because if we dominate the line, it makes every other position easier.

PREACHING TO THE CHOIR, Brother !!

It reamins to be seen what kind of NFL career Flacco & Kaepernick have over the next 10 or so seasons. Each is off to  strong start as an "elite". Don't under estimate the job Kaepernick did against Atlanta or Flacco in dueling Manning & Brady....both QBs were in top form.

If you read enough of my posts, you soon figure that I'd be in favor of an NFL rule banning more than 31 pass atempts per game. I'd be satisfied with 11 or 12 myself, but some like passing...so as a concession...I'll go 31.

Just my thoughts

Joeckel
Milliner

If neither are available trade down and add some extra picks.

Assuming Peters, Kelce, and Herremans come back healthy.. i think we can hold off from the top o-lineman.  I would love to see us just get a big hog to clog up that D-line....Lotulelei, Hankins, or Jenkins would be nice!

I'm thinking snag a speed pass rusher who can generate sacks and disrupt Eli Manning/RG3 or Kurt Cousins. Someone like Jevon Kearse. I know that's a big order but we've got #4 pick so someone will be available.

I wouldn't even bother going after o-line we have a fairly good o-line what they should be doing is going after what we REALLY NEED. Good LB's, SS, FS? Shoot even dam CB's our defence is rediculus. We have safties that are scared to make tackles and if you pay attention watching the eagle the safties see its a run and they will still be dropping back they should be coming in for a dam hit. We need hard hitting safties again someone like a Brian Dawkins. We need to be looking maybe into free agents or somthing like a trade who knows. The our CB's WOWWWWW all that money Namdi alite? Really? thats a joke he gets beat every play. Maybe himself and cromartie still got it but we need a dam good D coach thats gunna get onto our players not someone that slaps em on the a** n says NEXT TIME......

I think our offenders is good no great. You forget the fact that all of our starter were injured last year at some point. Our o-line has tons of talent so we could get Joeckel but that would be a pick that wouldn't get us anywhere. Come on now there is no point of of fence if we can't stop on defense at all.  I would pick Milliner in the first round. Maybe Ryan Nassib in the second round because of his accuracy and understanding of the game( this only if Chip doesn't like nick beside he wanted to play here anyways)

I really think colt Anderson can be a great safety if teached the fundamentals and anticipation of routes. If we get Milliner then we could make asomugauh or how ever you spell his name to free safety. If we switch to a 3-4 then we need to get a nose tackle in maybe the 3rd round then it's a quality roster.

What I don't understand is how all these people get on here saying we need o-line help. Look we have a solid o-line if we waist our 1st rounder on a dam o-lineman I will be speechless. If our people upstairs don"t go after our NEEDS then maybe that will be were we need to make a change at. If we take a look at how much talent we really have there is no way possibly we should of only got 4 wins. I mean look to everyone saying we need a o-lineman we DON'T  maybe you didn't watch our team play this season we had so many o-linemen injured what did we expect the reserves to come in a dominate? They were horrible when we come back healthy next season we are going to be a VERY dangerous and explosive team. We seriously need help on our D-fence these safties we have I cant believe they they can even be considered safties as much as they go beat and as horrible they are at tackling. We could use Millner or Jones at LB to start off our draft that's were we really need help is on D-fence and if Reid or Elem is still alive in the 2nd round go after 1 of them for our safty position. Or even a top free agent at FS or SS even a top FA LB. Man I wish i was upstairs to help these people on a opinion or whatever........... GOOOOOOO EAGLES!!!!!!!!
