88.6 QB rating, 17/30, 203 yards, 1td/0int vs. NYJ (loss)

128.1 QB rating, 14/21, 148 yards, 2td/1int vs. Houston (win)
98.9 QB rating, 14/21, 148 yards, 2td/1int vs. TB (win - helped Eagles into playoffs)
That's the most misunderstood thing about JaMarcus Russell. He wasn't a bust because he sucked, he was a bust because he was a fat, lazy drug addict. Just looking at his throwing ability, he may have been the best QB prospect since, Jeff George, who was also a failure because of attitude/approach/work ethic.
When you really think about it, considering the poor talent surrounding JaMarcus Russell and his own inability to not sabotage his career, he actualy performed quite well. Sadly, and sickeningly, as soon as he was drafted he quit working and got by on pure natural ability on one of the worst teams in the last 20 years.
If JaMarcus was actually serious about a comeback, and worked his arse off, he could be a great QB in the right situation. But as his current weight indicates, he hasn't learned a damned thing from his experiences and thinks some desperate team is going to give him a contract to bail him out of debt.
It's really hard, if not downright impossible, to root for a guy like him because he had all the ability in the world & the opportunity but threw it all away.

We really are fing cursed.
The Raiders were motivated for that game after some of the Giants players (Giants played them the week before and beat them 44-10) trash talked the Raiders in the media after their game.

So in his best season he only cracked 200 twice with a high of 242? Super-bust.
The Raiders were also AWFUL in 2008. The fact that he had that many good games is pretty remarkable and shows there is some talent there. Lane Kiffin was fired during the season and replaced with Tom Cable. Darren McFadden was a BACKUP his first two years. Look at depth chart. Russell had nobody around him in Oakland:
2007 (55.9 QB rating, 54.5 comp%, 2td/4int in 4 games)
RB: Justin Fargas, Lamont Jordan, Dominic Rhodes
WR: Ronald Curry, Jerry Porter, John Madsen, Mike Williams, Tim Dwight, Johnnie Lee Higgins
TE: Zach Miller
2008 (77.1 QB rating, 53.8 comp%, 13td/8int, 127 rush/1td in 15 games)
RB: Justin Fargas, Darren McFadden, Michael Bush
WR: Johnnie Lee Higgins, Ronald Curry, Chaz Schilens, Javon Walker, Ashley Lelie
TE: Zach Miller
2009 (50.0 QB rating, 48.8 comp%, 3td/11int in 12 games)
RB: Michael Bush, Justin Fargas, Darren McFadden
WR: Louis Murphy, Chaz Schilens, Johnnie Lee Higgins, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Todd Watkins
TE: Zach Miller

If Jamarcus wants to loose weight, hanging out with Rex Ryan is not the answer. That was always looking for a snack on Hard Knocks.
