Since he was fired by the Saints, makes sense to include a thread for him here.

He had one guy....Wilson who could do or fit the things that make his system great. NO was a horrible landing spot for him, he is not terrible...he is still one of the better defensive minds in football...but it does take the right personnel to run his system. Personnel that I feel we have.

Still living off a fluke SB run from 5 years ago. Ever since, every single defense he has coached has been garbage. He set records this year with the Saints for the worst defense in NFL history.

People judging him off that one year with the Saints are ridiculas...lol that franchise was a mess lasy  year, I dont think anyone could have coached that defense really. Its been well documented, that team gave up on the entire season last year with what they were going through...

Spags is really the only logical answer

Donatell is horrible. You know he has been a DC twice in his coached career, both times he went right back to being a position coach...There is a reason. I'll accept him as a position coach, but he's not coordinator material

He is not horrible.

You are talking out your a**. You only want him because he was part of that Giants team. That doesn't mean ****, his overall body of work is worse than Donatell's and has been horrible lately.

Greg Williams coached that defense.

I Like Spags, I wanted him last year.

However: I think the Eagles already have the DC locked up. Something is holding them back from announcing it, possibly they are on a SB game team? But why would they be hiring defensive position coaches without the DC agreeing? Im sure any DC hired will want a say on the position coaching staff. They have someone already done and are just delaying to announce. We will find out soon enough.

I would take either of them , Spags did great with the front 7 of the Giants yes i agree but we could flourish the same with our personel here i think , also Donatell gave up the 4th & 26 when he was in GB so does that mean he doesnt know what he is doing , i think not. I will take either of them. I think it will be Donatell as everyone in the organization seems awfully calm and not doing anything right now which makes me think something may be done already and we just need to wait till the SB is over. I mean really any interviews , anyone coming to town to meet & greet , nothing which leads me to think this FO has thier guy and just waiting till after the bowl not to make any players etc on the Niners sway either way about him leaving.

Why Donatell? He's had 2 chances at being an NFL DC and his defenses weren't anything special. He's like the 2nd level coaching equivalent to Wade Phillips & Norv Turner. Good at only focusing on 1 thing. Norv & Phillips are good coordinators who are terrible head coaches and Donatell is a good position coach who's not really a good coordinator.

He's had some pretty good defenses.

I'm not sure Wade Phillips is anything special either. He has some damn good players, but his defense came up lame this year against NE when it counted.

No he hasn't. He had 1 fluke SB run with the Giants and every single defense he has coached has been absolutely terrible. The defense he coached this year was top 5 worst in NFL History

I actually want Leavitt since Donatell is already candidate I put in there.

The reason I don't think Leavitt will be the guy is because I believe Chip's gonna want a guy who has NFL experience and Leavitt's in the 2nd year of his 1st NFL job.

That's all well and good, but the thing is I wasn't talking about Spags. I was talking about Donatell.

I didn't expect anything.

But considering I already stated I want no part of Spags, and mentioned Wade Phillips in my post when the previous poster brought him up, I thought it was obvious.

He's worth at least interviewing. Sure knew how to shut down the Eagles offense when he was with the Giants.
