Wether on WIP or being rude to posters on this forum for the last several years you sold us a bill of goods. Rational people realized the Eagles needed better players but all we heard from you was..."what position would you replace...best starters in the NFL...yada yada.

Now, cue all of your little brown nosers to begin ripping me.

Suddenly the roster needs an overhaul. Yeah right. You still call yourself a journalist?

"I think the misconception is that when you bring a new coach, you have to overhaul your whole roster. For us, we do think we have a lot of pieces in place.

Pretty unfair. The entire last season David was very critical, truly. And I don't recall ever hearing him say your quote. His mistake, in my opinion, is relying on what coaches tell him too much rather than trusting his eyes. When the coaches are clueless he ends up looking foolish.

This is obviously a tangent to the original point but is Howie now back to claiming credit for those building blocks or is he still just the guy who is only responsible for the solid but overrated 2012 draft?

I like this roster a lot. Everybody here does. The Eagles have a lot of pieces, a ton of talent, and the question moving forward is how all of the pieces come together.

From a skills standpoint, the Eagles are loaded. They have a slew of wide receivers and running backs and should be able to get some favorable matchups against defenses scrambling to keep up with all of the speed and all of the talent.

Does he call himself a journalist? He's in charge of the Eagles Web site and makes sure content is produced for it. They put up some great stuff but no one really comes here for objective team analysis

No question I, along with many others, expected much more in 2011 and 2012 than this team delivered. Major disappointment. I clearly overevaluated the roster and the coaching staff. So ... you know, what can I say? I am always going to be optimistic going into a season, as every team should be. It's the NFL. Anything can happen. I don't think the roster needs a complete overhaul, but there needs to be upgrades in several critical areas.

Every team website is going to hype up their own team going into any season.  What is Dave supposed to say, "well, here's to another mediocre year with average players?"

And he was right, the team had speed and talent at the skill positions.  The main problems on offense were the line depth, play calling, turnovers and Vick.
