New Eagles coach Chip Kelly recently said quarterback sacks are the "cardinal sin" in his offense.  "The job of a quarterback is simple. He has to let it happen, and not make it happen. We want to move forward," Kelly said. "We want the ball out of the quarterback's hands in 1.5 seconds. That does not mean holding the ball until 2.5, waiting for someone to get open." Kelly went on to say that "every sack is the quarterback's fault." It's perhaps a bad sign for Michael Vick, who has taken 85 sacks in his last 35 games.

A day late, yet still just as relevant.

And don't get so emotional about it, and how he posted it. Geez.

2013 will be Vick's break-out year.

Chip is 100% correct... i am a football coach and we teach our QB to read the biltz and know how to hit the hot routes... all the WR are taught to read blitz as well so they know whos gettting the ball...also we teach out kids to use hard counts and also change up the snap count so that we can through off the timing of the Dline getting off the ball and the people hitting their blitzs full speed... These are things that we teach High School Var QBs to do and they do it about 90% of the time and Mike Vick who is at the highest level of football can not read when a blitz is coming period dot... It is very sad and also the reason why he will never be in the same class as the best of best because Tom Brady, The Manning brothers, Aaron R, Drew Bress and others kill the teams who try to blitz them 90% of the time.. So who ever is the QB vick, Nick or someone else better learn how to do what we teach in Highschool or the eagles Off will suck again next year...

Vick wil not be on the team this year people... please understand that... Stop loving Vick for what he is not... and that is a QB... you are in love with the Athlete Vick is not the QB...The QB vick sucks the Athlete Vick is amazing... please understand the difference people...

If one reads Kelly's actual transcripts over their own hot air -and by that I mean media people as well as taters, the indications are that Vick is gone and Foles is the penciled-in starter. Chip's job will then be to put together the toughest QB competition he can for TC. I don't want to rule Vick out but his value to this team is less than $3M. Though they will pay him that if they think they can trade him to someone who will offer that.

The problem is where is he going to find a Qb that doesn't get sacked?  Damn,  the Eagles are doomed.  This doesn't look good at all.  :nonono:

You guys need to stop starting new threads about this because honestly...you don't know what Chip will do.

He may ask to keep Vick because he thinks he gives them a better chance the Foles.

He may cut him tomorrow.

Nobody knows but him. I understand the need to speculate, but some of you sound like you will be suicidal if Vick is retained.

2 1/2 sacks per game is to many for a veteran QB.  Then you add in all the turnovers.

Yes, PFF I think. Not only that, but it was by a large margin. Like by .6 seconds, which doesn't sound like much, but it definitely is.

You're probably right - he just needed 3 full offseasons to prepare as the starting QB to show how much he's improved.

So does the line have anything to do with it?  Because Foles had taken his share also.  And If you watch Tom Brady's and Peyton Manning's line they have all day.  Not taking up for Michael Vick,  I just thought the O-line had a lot to do with sacks also.  Just asking that's all,  so you can hold off on the Michael Vick insults directed to me.

holds onto the ball 2nd longest in the league.

"When he holds onto the ball longer than 2.5 seconds, his completion dips to below 51% and his QB rating is 66.5.
And just to put that in some more context, that QB rating is 2nd lowest among the QBs who hold onto the ball for greater than 2.5 seconds on the largest percentage of their dropbacks. Point is, Vick is worse than a lot of QBs when he holds onto the ball."

"Vick's average time between the snap and the moment he's sacked is over 4 seconds, or 3rd highest in the leauge. So he's certainly not doing the line any favors either."

no - not suicidal.......   more like dumbfounded if Kelly and crew think Vick can be our future even for one year....

But hey Coaches and GM's often make vey stupid mistakes.... they do it all the time.  Just look at some of the moves teams have made over the years that blew up in their face.

I think the bad news for Vick is that Andy in no longer here.... He was the Guy who was sold on Vick, it was his guy.

And by the middle of 2012 season, I think even Andy knew it was one of his biggest mistakes.  If thats not correct, Andy would try and get Vick to KC
