I really hope Howie is looking at these PSU LBers in this draft. I wrote earlier that Sean Lee and NaVarro Bowman were significant contributors to the development of their respective team's Defense. In the 2010 draft the Eagles selected Daniel Te'o-Nesheim, DE with the 86th pick and  the 49ers took Bowman at 91. Needless to say Bowman is a huge part of the SUPER BOWL Defense while Te'o is playing elsewhere. Let's not mess this draft up too.

And you had faith in Reid.   How'd that work out?

Difference is, I won't be apologizing for him, giving him a decade and a half, and asking "who else is there" if he happens to fail.

You do realize that there are many other teams in the NFL that have "messed up" much worse than the Eagles,....right?

BTW, Bowman had character and drug issues IIRC, that's why he dropped, and playing next to Willis takes some attention off him as well, not saying he is;nt good, but for every Bowman & Lee there's a Poz and Conner

Rodney,

The teams that messed up the draft like the Eagles (or worse), are also not playing in the Super Bowl this Sunday. Winning in February requires first, winning in consecutive Aprils..just saying. For me, it's really not about how many other teams also messed up in the draft, and using that as a measuring stick to accept mediocrity, it's about the Eagles being the very best team on draft weekend and setting the bar so high with their performance there, that 31 other teams shake their heads in despair and hopelessly try to chase them. That's the change in culture this team needs, IMO.
I'm just tired of watching them pick scrubs instead of stars, and then when everyone realizes they picked scrubs, the theme is always that other teams pick scrubs too.....as if somehow that makes their failure ok.....that is the culture of compromise that I find unacceptable and that I hope left with Andy Reid.

Watch it, Pocono - you're messing with one of the sacred covenants of being a true believer.  :-)

You make sense, but those two teams in the SB have made mistakes in the Draft recently and in FA as well

Nobody is perfect Rodney, and I think we all accept that truth. My point is that despite that truth, it's always best to strive for perfection, so when we come up a little short, we've still captured excellence, rather than give up before we even start, by our willingness to accept mediocrity and call it success. With Reid, I always felt he was striving for middle of the road on personnel, would compromise in three areas of talent if the player did one thing pretty well, and then when he came up short....well, we all saw the results and they weren't nearly good enough. I hope that's all in the past now.

Yes, they made terrible mistakes, Rodney.       The mismanagement of acquiring talent and poor job of designing schemes to fit that talent on those teams is just staggering.

I'm sure they are being evaluated .. I don't know how the Eagles feel about those players.

PSU Defensive coaches recently said Bowman was the best, hardest working most dedicated kid they ever coached. I agree he had some baggage but through the years we passed over a lot of great playerss some of whom will be in the HOF. It's the job of a good org to meet with potential draftees to be able to determine if they are a worthwhile risk. By the way, nothing wrong with either Connor or Poz except for a series of injuries.

They are both excellent team leaders as well as bing great players. The Eagles need some players who can provide toughness and the desire to win.

Poz is a solid LB that I would gladly take. He's had at least 110 tackles every year since his second season. He's had two sacks each of the last three seasons and has had at least two interceptions the last two. As for Connor... you're right it would seem. I had thought he just wasn't getting the chance to play but that can only be an excuse for so long.
