Free Agency - Additions

Glover Quinn SS - Replaces Coleman, did a nice job of covering the tight end position this season.

Larry Grant ILB - Good run defender. I like what I saw from him in 2011 when Willis was out with an injury. He can be utilized on our team more than he is with the Niners since Bowman and Willis play every defensive snap for them.

Terrance Knighton NT - Would be our starting NT. I don't value this position as high as others cause usually all that position is asked to do is stop the run. There aren't many great NT's in the league right now. So I'd rather look at free agency to find one rather than take one high in the draft.

Draft

4th - Eric Fisher OT C. Michigan - Like everyone else here, I think chiefs take Joeckel with the 1st pick. First step for the Eagles is to fix the problems on the O-line which is why we select Fisher.

35th pick - I say we trade down with the Chargers who need o-line help and they target Barret Jones or Dallas Thomas, one spot ahead of the Lions. We get 45th and their 4th rounder which is pick 107. Last year we trade down with the packers from 51 to 58 (or 59) and got a 4th rounder out of that deal.

45th - Logan Ryan CB Rutgers - Really like how physical he is at cornerback. I read on a mock draft site that said that they think he is the best tackling corner in this draft. And that's something we have lacked for a while now.

67th - Jonathon Cyprien FS Florida International - Read that he had a great Senior Bowl week. A writer on BGN wrote that Cyprien reminds him of Brian Dawkins more than any other safety in this draft, even more than Elam. He might be an early 2nd rounder come draft time but right now I think this a good slot for him.

98th - Michael Buchanon DE/OLB Illinois - Coaching staff showed interest in him at the Senior Bowl. At 6' 5" and 240 pounds he has a great frame that our new defensive staff can work with.

107th from San Diego - Brian Schwenke C/OG California - Very athletic, gets to second level of the defense on the linebackers with ease. Could be a nice camp training battle with him and Kelce for the starting center position. Worse case scenario with him is he is our back-up center.

129th - Chris Harper WR Kansas State - Was once a QB at Kansas State, strong built wide receiver. Very good at yards after contact and tough for corners and safetys to bring down individually.

Not a high profile name draft but I would be satisfied if we were able to get these players.

Not bad.  Don't think Buchanon will last that long

I like your draft. I think Schwenke is a great pick.

I read that article as well and if he looks anything like Dawkins did coming out of college, we def need to draft this guy to see what hes got.

Nice job.  Conservative, yet effective FA and realistic draft.  Not thrilled with Fisher at 4 but I'd be happy with this.

Not sexy but great mock nontheless... Like the way you adress NT in FA, take the second best OT in the draft and still come up with two highly talented DB's in the second... Great job!

I actually like the draft, but the FAs need some work. For me:

Glover Quinn SS - I actually like this pick. The thing that makes Quin intersting is that he's actually be relatively healthy his entire career. Almost all the other FA safeties have a big health concern.

Larry Grant ILB - If we are moving to a 3-4 would he start or just s a backup? To me Ryans and Kendricks are your starters. Matthews has some added value because it's a better system. Could he be the 4th LB and if so is he really going to contribute much? He's also 28, so that's fairly aged for a backup.

Terrance Knighton NT - He was benched this past year and was actually quite bad against the run. I really think Knighton is way to much of a question mark to be our primary NT going into a scheme change. I'd rather go with a bandaid type solution like Casey Hampton. At least you know he'll occupy space and be that run stuffer you need the NT to be.

Keep in mind that Ryans was traded to us from the Texans for very low value because he did not fit in their 3-4 scheme..... if he couldnt do it with the Texans why will he suddenly be able to do it with us?

Really liking this mock - no unrealistic trades or Dream team FA's.

It's very similar to one that I was going to post (I won't bother now  !!)

Cyprien at #67 would be a steal - IMO he is going to end up as a late R1/early R2 pick. He sounds like the leader that we so desperately need in the secondary.

The Eagles staff were all over Buchanan at the Senior Bowl - if I had to bet money on one guy in this draft becoming an Eagle, it's him.

The bonus with Schwenke is that he played both Guard positions for his first 3 years, and Harper was actually at Oregon for a year when Chip Kelly was OC.

In a 3-4 one MLB usually comes off the field on 3rd down making that ILB basically a 2 down backer.  It wasn't so much that Ryans couldn't do it but Houston wanted Cushing in there as much as possible and they didn't want to pay Ryans salary to be a 2 down player plus it was only one year after his injury.  He'll be okay there.

Because we don't have Brian Cushing on our team so Ryans gets more playing time with us.
