I haven't made a new mock draft since the beginning of the month, and I've finally pieced together what I think is a solid draft. The last mock draft I'll do before the combine. I know it's more likely than not that two trades involving first round picks won't happen. But this is what I want to happen and how I would try to get the draft to run if it happened.

(I have trades with Arizona, St. Louis, and GB. The St. Louis trade is purely because their pick fit the best with the two picks I have us giving up, so don't just assume I'm using St. Louis because they have two firsts or because it's the cool thing to do.)

As usual, I will not be covering FA. I am looking at draft picks for a transition to a 3-4 defense.

I used both old (http://www.draftcoun...Value-Chart.php) and new (http://www.nfldraft1...Value_Chart.jsp) draft pick trade value charts to evaluate the fairness of the following deals.

PHILADELPHIA sends the 4th pick to ARIZONA for the 7th and 69th picks...
old chart: PHI overpays, 1800 to 1745
new chart: PHI overpays, 1850 to 1705

PHILADELPHIA send the 35th and 69th picks to ST. LOUIS for the 22nd pick...
old chart: PHI overpays, 795 to 780
new chart: PHI overpays, 825 to 800

Somehow get an extra 5th round pick (from trading someone that doesn't fit in with the new scheme, or collectively from trading multiple people... anything like that)

.
.
.

*R1, pick 7 - Eric Fisher - OT - Central Michigan - 6'7, 305
After his recent outstanding performance at the Senior Bowl, Fisher has closed the gap between himself and Joeckel considerably. I think we can't drop down any lower to get him.

*R1, pick 22 - Xavier Rhodes - CB - Florida State - 6'2, 210
A plus size, plus skills cornerback with the requisite speed for the position. A young, physical presence on the outside.

*R3, pick 67 - Brandon Williams - NT - Missouri Southern State - 6'2, 341
A small school guy, but had a great week at the Senior Bowl, turned some heads. Looks the part of a NT, thick lower body, strong, etc etc. I think he could be a sneaky pick.

.

PHILADELPHIA send the 98th and 129th picks to GREEN BAY for the 88th pick...
old chart: PHI overpays, 151 to 150
new chart: PHI underpays, 150 to 160

.

*R3, pick 88 - Jonathan Cyprien - SS - Florida International - 6'0, 209
Another small school guy who showed an "aggressive playing style and active demeanor" at the Senior Bowl while also flashing some all-around skills.

*extra R5 - Michael Mauti - ILB - Penn State - 6'2, 235
I'm absolutely taking a chance on Mauti here in round 5. I think he can bring some definite leadership qualities to the team and would ideally start alongside Kendricks at ILB in the 3-4.

*R6, pick 163 - Ryan Allen - P - LA Tech - 6'2, 215
I know Chas Henry won the Ray Guy award in 2010, but Allen's won the last TWO. In any case, I don't see using late round picks on special teams guys as wasted picks at all.

*R7, pick 194 - Zach Sudfeld - TE - Nevada - 6'7, 255
A potential pick. Sudfeld has the size, some good speed, and adequate blocking to maybe give this team it's poor poor man's Gronkowski. And hey, it's round 7.

UDFA - Carson Tinker - LS - Alabama - 6'0, 230 - Some competition for Dorenbos? IDK, The Magician won't be here forever. :P
UDFA - T.J. Moe - WR - Missouri - 6'0, 200 - Maybe there is a place for an Amendola-style shifty WR with size in Chip Kelly's offense.

Can't build Rome in a day, but this would be a good start. 3 immediate starters (Fisher, Rhodes, Cyprien) and hopefully we could get Williams up to speed enough to start to open the season as well...

.
.
.

Sample depth chart (rookies):

QB - Foles
RB - McCoy, Brown
WR - Jackson, Maclin, Avant, Cooper, Johnson, Moe
TE - Celek, Sudfeld, Harbor
OT - Peters, Fisher
OG - Mathis, Herremans
C - Kelce

DE - Cox, Thornton, Jenkins
NT - Williams, Dixon?
OLB - Graham, Cole, Curry
ILB - Kendricks, Ryans, Mauti
CB - DRC, Asomugha, Rhodes, Boykin, Marsh, Hughes
FS - Allen, Anderson
SS - Cyprien, Coleman

K - Henery
P - Allen, Henry
LS - Dorenbos, Tinker

I like what you did in this mock.  Looks pretty solid.  Eric fisher might not be that bad of a pick.

The main hole I see in the draft is why Arizona would move up to #4? They need tackles more than anything else and if Luke is gone they might make that move to assure they get Fisher.

Who does Arizona want at #4? Sort of take us through their mindset. Teams won't move up in a draft without a reason.

If this happened I would be sooo happy.  I think we would need that pick to get Rhodes and a big Fisher fan

im almost saying this as more of a question then anything... but didnt Dennis Kelly play well at the RT position?
why not give him a try there this year with Herremans beside him..... might work out great, dont waste a pick and we have a solid starter???

and if he dont work out we draft a tackle high next year... Matthews and Lewan??

I have read a lot of mocks lately and it seems like everyone has us drafting Eric Fisher at 4.  I was reading something about him and they were saying that because hes so tall he tends to stand straight up when blocking letting speed rushers get underneath of him.  I know that he could def learn how to fix that, but just my opinion I think 4 is too high for Fisher.  Just my opinion though. Would be a really good pick if we could trade down a few spots and get extra picks as well.

A fair point. They have to trade up for someone.

As much as it's recently been thrown around that Joeckel deserves to go 1st overall, and that he's the best overall player in the draft, and even though I'd probably take him atm if I was with the Chiefs, I have this sneaking suspicion that they go with a QB, Geno Smith. That's just my opinion. New coach + 1st pick + Andy Reid likes his QBs = ? But that's how I see it.

1 - KC - QB Geno Smith - they have enough talent already at OT that going QB isn't as far-fetched as some might think
2 - JAX - DE Bjoern Werner - seems like they've been needing a stellar DE since Kampman left and they went offense in round 1 last year with Blackmon, right?
3 - OAK - DT Star Lotulelei - probably a consensus pick, if not cliche... great player though
4 - ARI - OT Luke Joeckel
5 - DET - CB Dee Milliner - Detroit! When are you getting a good secondary!? I think they learn this year... even if this would be a reach for a need pick, I still wouldn't be mad about it as a Lions' fan
6 - CLE - Damontre Moore - Moore could really help their pass rush (Jabaal Sheard led them with like 7 this year...) and Jarvis Jones I think will drop due to medical concerns
7 - PHI - Eric Fisher

That'd be one strategy. I just see having a top 5 pick as a chance to get a so-called "franchise" (and I hate that word, but) QB or LT. If you have one of them, you go for the other. I think Fisher is going to be a great tackle, and even if Kelly can play... I don't see this as a wasted pick at all.

At the beginning of next season, Peters, Mathis, and Herremans will be 31, 31, and 30, respectively. And while those aren't exactly old for offensive linemen, I think we could nip any potential "aging O-line" issues in the bud before they arise. PLUS two of those three guys will be coming off of fairly substantial injuries (although I hope both come back better than ever, of course).

That's my thinking... I wouldn't take him at #4 only because there aren't any players that would excite me at #4 as much as it would excite me to trade down a bit and still get a strong player and get some picks to trade up back into the first round with. It basically comes down to my opinion being that (Fisher + Rhodes) > (Joeckel + Trufant), although it certainly is close. And I think you're right, I think he can learn any of the small technique issues that he has, being a taller guy.

buuut i think we have more pressing needs right now then aging Oline... we have no safeties, and basically no cornerbacks either.... i think we should fix our defense first then oline/offense next year.. when we really learn what our wholes are under Kellys new scheme

You're right. I just thought that by going Fisher/Rhodes/Cyprien and maybe picking up a DB in free agency we could kill two birds with one stone.

I am with you that I would much rather have Fisher and Rhodes and either Thomas/Cyprien at safety

Nice job.  Don't think the kid from La Tech will be there though in the 6th but that's nitpicking.
