This guy is going off to a rocking good start here.  The man seems genuine, and better yet, really seems to fit into the city well.  I mean the guy was really soaking it in when the crowd starting singing Fly Eagles Fly.  At least from the start of things here, looks like the Birds made a damn good choice for their HC.

who cares what kind of coach he is? The real question is, how many wings can the guy eat?

Hopefully Chip didn't call a timeout 2 minutes into the contest.

He didn't burn his timeouts. Instead he went to the Wing Bowl then said he was leaving but then went back just to leave again. Somebody said it was because he dropped his keys, I'm not buying that one.

I hid his keys so he couldn't leave.

What he does off the field doesnt mean squat. What he does on the field is what counts. I dont care how great he is in interviews or TV appearances or how much of a "Philly guy" he comes off as, what I care about are wins. That's what'll decide whether they made a damn good choice or not, everything else is a pageantry.

While I agree 100% you have to remember that we dealt with 14 years of "We're good there" "I gotta do a better job" etc. It is very nice to see a head coach of OUR football team seem like he genuinely cares about the fans. Ironically I just can not wait until his first PC after a loss. Curious at how he handles the media afterwards.

I am excited for Chip as a coach but his whole "Philly" act seems pretty disingenuous to me ... in his introductory PC, and subsequent interviews, it almost seemed like he was forcing Philly references into his comments.

we dealt with the most winning coach in eagles history for the past 14 years. I could care less about a press conference. So if chip comes out and says my players really stunk it up today espcially player x,y,and z and we are losing games will that make you happy because of his "brutal honesty"?  If he doesn't win games the speaches don't mean jack ish !!!

He looked like he was amazed that the city is behind this team so much. A "what have I got myself into" moment.

The best coach we ever had in this city was Fred Shero, and he never even cracked a smile.

Dude, chill.  The NFL is first and foremost, in the entertainment business.  Nobody will be happy if the team doesn't win.  That being said, no reason why not to enjoy the fresh air right now.

You mean G-d forbid, somebody coached him on how to handle the media here.  Shudder the thought.

I agree, it is a little forced, but I don't blame Chip. Its that tone death NovaCare PR apparatus pushing him out there. Now you have to ingratiate yourself with Cataldi Chip, and the Wing Bowl and cheese steaks, you love them. And you're just excited about the opportunity. Freaking Boyko. Clueless.

Clueless?  Getting this guy off to a good start with the raucous Philly media is a bad idea?  I always thought that's what a publicist is supposed to do - and anyone who thinks the de facto CEO of a billion dollar franchise should not have a publicist does not understand business.

He should have good PR, as opposed to what he has. This is all coming off as very programmed and contrived to me, it isn't to you and that's fine. Chip has a fine personality, funny, pointed, smart. They should stop trying to micromanage him and just let him do his thing. Having Lurie and his minions trying to show Chip how to "fit in" is the blind leading the sighted.

What the hell does it matter that he went to the friggen Wing Bowl.
Come on fans. Really ??

You guys are amazing.
I dont care if he tells us to go to hell,  gives all the fans the finger or completely ignores me.
If he wins great. If he losses then get lost.

And I see Mr. Clown is there sucking Chips balls only to then go talk bad about him after his 1st loss.
What a class guy that Angelo is.

I don't think it was forced. He barely mentioned Philly in his press conference. He mentioned it once during Wing Bowl when asked about the city.

He's from the NE area of the US. I'm pretty sure he knows what Philly is all about.

I just hope he doesn't let the ridiculous attention get to his head. I don't think he will though.

He'll integrate just fine if they knock off the phony NovaCare generated PR bs and just let him be himself, that's the point.

Oh my god. Reid was smug. The world is going to end.
Come on people. Kelly is here to do one thing.
And that's to win games. That's it.
These coaches can crap in their pants for all I care.
He isn't here to make friends. He isnt here to be friends with that idiot Angelo. He isn't here to suck the medias balls.
Kelly is here to win games.
If you guys get off because your coach is going around kissing up to everyone that's great.
I'll take a completely moron ignorant coach that wins thank you.
All that other crap is meaningless and if they dont win ball games he will be fired.

Disagree. Football is an entertainment industry. We watch and go to this site year round and not just on gameday during the season. It's nice to have a coach that interacts well. Of course in the end winning is the critical piece though. And I'll also add I don't put too much into what a guy does during the honeymoon period here. Let's see how he acts when things get a bit tougher
